Question Traxxas Bandit Gearing Help - 06.30.2008, 11:33 PM

My son has a Bandit XL5 and the motor didn't last very long. I ended up purchasing a Trinity 13.5T Stock Brushless for it (cheap). I can't find nowhere on the net the KV rating for this motor. Does anyone know? The standard gearing for the XL5/13T 550 is 26T/76T and the VXL Bandit is the same 26T/76T gearing. Should I just try out the motor with the same gearing as see how it goes? I will be running a 6 cell NIMH

Run it and see how it goes. How old is your son. Will he be able to handle the power .

I bought a sidewinder and 4600 for the kids stampede and I am still wondering if this is going to be an expensive mistake.

i believe the trinity 13.5 540 brushless is rated at 3300 kv give or take so i suppose its around 19turn in power due to it being brushless
hope that helps

Sweet, thanks. Well the VXL motor is 3500kv so might run a 24T pinion since the VXL uses 26T

Well finally got all the gear in. I sold the standard Traxxas XL5 ESC for $50Aus and bought a Hobbywing Brushless one for $45Aus inc. freight. Got it all installed today but was unable to run it as daylight went away and had other things to do. The Hobbywing ESC is very, very small. Was shocked when I opened the box.

Oh and it actually isn't for my little boy above, it is for my step son who is lying down in the background

91 watts?! Oh my God! That would give my Tyco buggy on 4 AA's a run for its money! We could do Pinks.... Where are you located?

Let us know what you think of the hobby wing esc. Looks interesting. Is it the model that will do sensor and sensorless? Do you have a link to the specs?

Well finally take it for a good run today. Great ESC, especially for the price. I was running the standard gearing 26T/76T and after alot of high speed running, doughnuts, drifting, jumping and bashing around the ESC was 86F, Motor 99F and battery 87F and that was running a 3000mah 7.2v nimh battery. Might go up to a 27T but even the speed it is at now is fast enough
