New to hobby need advice -
11.12.2005, 12:43 PM
Hi, I'm just starting out and need some advice.
I just bought an older Team Assoc. rc-10 truck (thats for my kid) ... and I have a Revo coming in the mail right now. But I got it for a good deal and I'm just going to re sell it on Ebay to get an Electric.
I was thinking I wanted to get an E maxx and go brushless eventually. Is an E maxx what I want?
I think I like the idea of 4 wheel drive, but the Brushless Emaxxs, I have looked at, all have only 1 motor, which would make it 2 wheel drive I'm guessing.
Maybe I don't even need to go brushless?
I don't race, I just want something to have fun with, that can compare to nitro machines. And I want good run times 15 minutes per charge I would think.
I guess I'm asking for a fast all purpose machine. I don't mind dropping a little cash for good batteries and such.
I'm thinking a Emaxx with dual brushless would be pretty sweet, but will that even work, will i get long drive times? Is there a totally different machine I should look into.
And advice would be great. I ready to get into it pretty deep but would like to make a eduacated decision.

budgets I'm sure it an important consideration. Less than $900 a used Emaxx is $250 so minus that gives us $650 for what ever else I may need.
It wouldn't hurt me to spend less either. :) The best bang for buck I'm looking for.

You could always keep the revo, sell the motor and pipe and convert to electric. In the long run it would be cheaper than a brushless emaxx since that needs drivetrain upgrades.
Mike here @ rc-monster sells an e-revo conversion and with a $250 brushless setup you could be flying high 30's to low 40's no problem depending on your battery cell count.

an emaxx with one motor is still four wheel drive. Gorilla has a conversion kit coming for the revo. You may consider doing a revo conversion. I have a emaxx that made my tmaxx look bad. The one motor seems to do better than nitro if you choose the right one. I hope this helps.
Welcome to the forum as well. We try to help you out.
Peace!

well, u'll need g2r conversion kit, and e-maxx tranny. Mike can probably provide you with both. For bl system, if u want value, go for the BK Electronics 9920. and the motor is up to u. Feigao 9L is very popular. Dont forget u'll need a charger and batts. again! mike has it covered!

Welcome Trick440 hope you enjoy it here.
I agree with the others comments, the Revo conversion is the best handeling electric truckyou can buy. it should be available soon.
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Welcome trick!
with 16 cells and a 7 or 8XL you have got a nice all-round system, which can easely do the runtime you want.
The two motors that are in an emaxx both are on the same gear. with one motor, it still is a 4wd.
