whats the difference between a muggy and truggy? - 02.02.2009, 02:17 AM

first off...what is a muggy and a truggy? from what it seems, it sounds to be like a stadium truck but usually in nitro and 4wd...am i correct?
a truggy or muggy sounds exactly like something im looking for. ive owned all types of rc cars and now i want something in between a monster truck and a buggy. so i thought a stadium truck suited me the best, but it lacked the 4wd. and i missed the bigger tires and ground clearance from the monster truck. so ive stayed with the monster truck for a while, but now i want something that handles better....truggy ..muggy? can somebody tell me a lil about those?

thanks

The Muggy is the name of a model made by Team Losi, so its not really a category for a car. It is basically a truggy with a little more ground clearance, and bigger wheels and shocks. A truggy is a lowered monster truck with a center diff and flat chassis. Basically a pure racing machine.

Muggy = monster truck and buggy
Truggy = truck and buggy

A truggy is a generic term for a cross breed between a buggy and a MT. A Muggy is a model name for a Losi product: http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB0018

Losi's Muggy is basically a truggy, but with more of a MT style stance from what I gather.

dude, that IS EXACTLY what i have been looking for my entire rc life..haha that sounded so gay. nah real talk tho, i thought i was gonna stick with monster trucks definetly, cus i liked how i could trample over everything and climb hills and such and do jumps, but it lacked the speed. so when they started making monster trucks brushless ready, i thought it was a dream come true...a fast truck AND with big o tires. but now, after 2 years of running the brushless emaxx, i sorta miss the handling from what my onroad cars and stadium truck and buggy could do, whereas the emaxx will flip if i attemped to turn at high speeds.
that muggy looks sick!!! im really diggin the big wide tires....even the two front tires are big. all those electric stadium trucks got narrow front tires which i hated.
from my research, it looks like the xray xtb and the losi 8t is the top contenders for truggys. anything else decent out there?
edit: hmm..seems to be alot of truggies out there...maybe instead of the good ones...which ones should i stay away from hahah. and of course...im looking to get a brushless truggy.

I was recently looking for a bashing vehicle as well. I wanted something with good ground clearance, tough platform, and easy disassembly for repairs. A truggy is perfect. It can be set up for racing or bashing pretty easily. I decided on an Xray xt8. I'm still trying to get shocks that will allow the ground clearance I want for bashing though.

do the diffs need upgrading? because he says he didnt do it because he has never seen one break. he says they are hardened steel and spiral cut?....is this true. i heard brushless boy had his cen matrix diffs replaced.
i dont wanna buy a truggy and then down the road, have to replace the diffs...

Most solid truggy diffs made in my opinion. Their cen genesis diffs.
