Help. I know almost nothing a/b radios

This a question my cousin Brian posed. (He'll be watching this so if you could tell him that he should register here. ) If a receiver or transmitter says 27 mhz on, does that mean that it will only work with 27 mhz crystals? https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...pl?pn=AIR92837 this is the receiver that I have right now in my BL xxx-t, except it says 75 mhz on the case, not just the crystal. I was going to put this crystal in it https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...&pn=AIR9301274 . my transmitter says 75 mhz on it too, would this work? I could just get this https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...ns&pn=JRR13575"

He's pretty smart just neither of us know much about radios. Its going in a MMM combo powered 8ight-t BTW.

There are different and will not work together different frequencies

And some other fun things to think about... There is both fm and am 27 and 75mhz... So you first need to find out if you are running am or fm.

But in the end, 27mhz xtals will only work with a 27mhz radio and rec. Same with 75mhz, so no swapping!

YEAH, YEAH but that is about the extent of my radio knowledge. I'm going with an Airtronics MX-3FG FHSS2 so I won't have to worry... much. (I have researched this a fairly good deal.)

I've used am and fm xtals interchangeably. 27's and 75's wont match, but am 27's will match fm 27's and vice versa, and it is the same for am and fm 75's. As long as the 27.xxx numbers match they will work. It is the same frequency, they just use different methods to get there.

Anyways that is true, you can swap the crystals from am to fm if the frequency is the same.
