The expanding CC motor line -
07.29.2009, 12:26 AM
With medusa going out of business, there is a big hole to fill in the motor department. The Medusa motors were almost perfect. The design was similar to Neu which is spot on.
One motor that is VERY GREATLY missed is the 36-50-3300. The only thing that'll work great now is dropping 185-205 on a Neu 15xx motor. The mysterious Neu 14xx series would probably be pretty good if I knew the length... That might be the next best option..
Anyway! Castle, someone needs to step up and come out with motors that have a design similar to Neu meaning a 4 pole and slotted design.(iirc) Low cost, high performance. Lots of sizes; 50-80+mm. Lots of KV choices (like Neu). Motors with lots of torqe for vehicles like the slash, rustler, jato, crt .5, mini hyper st, etc.
With the release of the MMP, it appears you are coming out with some new sensored motors. Would these by any chance have a different, 4 pole design?
BTW, I made a picture. The new motors need flames and the other improvements.

I am laughing pretty hard at the flames... Good stuff.
You can score neu 1506 motors from at least 2 places for around 130... And the 1509 can be had for 150. Both are alot better than the 50 and 60 mm medusas. And not much more expensive (well worth it, IMO)
I do agree that some castle neu motors in 1506, 09 sizes would be extra-gangster. Flames or not, I would have to scoop a few up.

Linc dont you know that flames give you another 10mph?!
Same effect as the fart cannon mufflers on imports :)
They should make them 1409 sized so they fit in all standard applications, because you cant fit the larger diameter motor in all applications
Edit- I was talking to one of the techs at castle last week he says there goal is to have a 10th scale system run HV and less milliamps for a more efficient setup. He said to look out for a 10th scale ~2200kv motor and up for 6s opperation.

I don't think they need motors 80mm long, anything needing a motor that big should be running a neu or cc/neu. They need to fill the 50-60mm hole left by medusa falling out of the game. For kv choices I would say 3 different choices between 2000-5000, such as 2000, 3300, 4800 give or take a few hundred kv on each of them. I hope my 36-50-4800 holds up till there is a replacement, otherwise I'll have to shell out for a neu
I forgot about the Novak Hv motors, I started out with a 4.5 on my CRT.5 because I had it. It was actually very good and ran cool. I guess that as a replacement for the 50-60mm Medusas these would actually be a decent choice.

It's going to be a cm-36 L 2200 mt motor.... it was on the box(at my LHS) that a new cm6900 was in. It was the last motor listed on the box, also on the side it gave the watts of the cm36s and cm36L...the L was 1200constant 2000 peak .

I'm gonna miss the 3/16 shaft of the medusa 36 50 for 1/10th. I agree some quality 4 poles in this size would be awesome I own 4 medusas in that size. I wouldn't mind trying a comparble neu but I don't think they come in the small pinion shaft size I only see 5mm
Brushless ..... I put that s... In everything.

You can order the smaller neus with 1/8 shafts. At least I vaguely remember being able to do that...

On the CC website you can change the 15xx series shaft size to 3.2mm, and I'm sure if you asked you could get a 14xx with a smaller shaft as they use the same rotor as the 15xx series. Some shops might carry the 3.2mm shaft also...

So not only are they making a sensored controller, they're making the motors to go with it. Thumbs up in my book.
