Losi 8b diff gears

well i have 2 blown out drive bearings and the gears on the inside are rounded pretty bad. i have some spare hellfire diff gears they fit but i just want to know if is compatible. or is it just too weak for brushless?

shim them correctly and they will be fine, my 8ight has an entire season on the diffs- no problems as of yet.

Shimming is using small very thin washers(shims) to set the gear mesh inside the diff properly. too loose and you will strip gears, too tight and the gears will bind up

I've had my 8ight for over two years now and neither of the gears inside or out of the diff have shown any wear, and neither have i ever used shims. Are you talking about the gears inside the diff or outside? If it is on the inside, make sure your diff has a enough diff fluid. If its on the outside, its probably the blown bearings that cause it.

Those shims are FOR the gears on the inside of the diff. The 4 small gears (spider gears) ride on shafts inside of the diff. Those shims can be put on the outside of the small gears on the shafts to force the gears to mesh tighter with the larger output gears. Less shims = looser, more shims = tighter. If it's too loose or too tight they will wear prematurely just like incorrect gear mesh for your spur/pinion.

I've also been running at 8 for probably 40 runs. never had an internal gear problem.

ok thanks for clearing that up, i got my 8b 2.0 second hand. it didnt even have any grease in the bulkhead
