Neu Motor Bearings - 03.22.2010, 10:40 PM

Help...

I picked up a used Neu 1509 for my slash 4x4 - When I got it the rotor felt really notchy... I could see what looked like some sand on the outer bearing race so I thought I'd open up the motor and have a look...

This was the inside of the bearings...

The question is these are 5 X 13 (15) X 4 flanged bearings...

Do you think I should:

1) Clean up and re-install
2) Buy new bearings - Any ideas where?
3) Send back to Nue for service...

Cheers

I replaced mine, no issues at all, very simple to do. I got mine from another member, I'll have to check my old pm's if you need info, hang on... ...it was Rootar. Don't know if he still has them or not.

I cleaned them and they are much better now - Still some noise though... I hit up Neu and it was $10 for bearings + $5 shipping or an extra $10 for them to do the install...

I figured I should be able to fit a bearing... So paid the $15...

As a bonus they threw in some rubber grommets - so no more sand:)

How did you open the motor? I have a 1515 2.5D here and see no screws.

Neu have changed the style of the can several times - This version had screws on rear end bell...

Sadly the sorry of this motor did not end well - I think one phase has a partial short.

It runs but is pulling massive amps and gets toasty 170F+ within a few mins... Bummer to see a Neu die...

Update - Neu delivers again!

Its was well beyond warranty date but thought I'd send it in - Worst that would happen is I get a credit against a new one...

Well 7 days later I get a nice phone call today to confirm that I did in fact have a short in the stator - Dam I thought...

Then the nice lady says we repaired it for you I need a CC to charge you $5.45 for return priority postage...

Got to love Neu!
