Easy Web Designing Services - 12.27.2011, 08:41 PM

Not sure if many will know what I'm looking for..

But, I want something similar to squarespace.
Something easy, simple, but can be made complex if wanted.
But MUST be free and MUST be able to be directed to by a custom domain.
*(we bought a domain, so if someone types our domain into a browser, it will take them to the website..)*

It's going to be kind of just an informative website, not one that needs to be flashy, doesn't need to incorporate forums, kind of like a news updating thing, but not a blog.

Looked into an alternative like drupalgardens.com, but the free service does not allow the custom domain directing part.

Normally, I would shell out some money for a good service like drupal or squarespace, but this is for a nonprofit organiaton/club at my school, and we raise money, and also try to help the autistic kids doing minor things, etc etc.

So obviously, we don't have the money to make the website..
Something simple, easy, and free, would be glorious.

If anyone has any ideas, that'd be great!

Thanks fellas!

Who is hosting your domain? Many often provide free editing tools.

Well, it's probably not "easy", but you could set up a simple Linux server running Apache on a mediocre box (assuming you won't be getting a ton of hits per day). Then, use one of those free DNS redirectors that maps your changing IP address (assigned by your ISP), and then have your domain point to that?

Not sure about the particulars, but I did something like this a while back (mine was an ASP web/FTP server) which I could access anywhere.

Of course, you'd have to either build your site from scratch, or use an HTML composer software (there are several free ones).

So, aside from the PC (an older spare PC could be used), it'll be free...

netfirms.com
...

Club president got a cheap company, honestly, haven't even looked much into it, but it doesn't appear that it has editing tools, or good ones..

Sounds like a bit too much hassle, but will definitely be a backup choice.

Having a simple and easy way, a service, would be soo much better!
