I Yeed Your Opinion...What should I do? - 03.17.2005, 09:15 PM

hey guys,

i have really been thinking about selling my racebomb and buying a carbon fiber g-maxx. this would really drop the weight. i plan on running komodo dragon tires on velos. this would also drop the weight and drop the truck really close to the ground for buggy-Like handling. i think it would handle sweet and pump out faster lap times due to power to weight ratio. i really do like how the racebomb handles, but its heavy and really long, i like the longness of it, but i think it may be too long. i got some new gp 3700's hoping to get my runtime up to 10 minutes on the track. i ran today and only get about 6-8 with 3300's i think 3700's would be around 8-9. if i geared down even more it would be around 9 minutes. i need 10. the g-maxx/ komodo i tihnk would put me in the 10 minute range. this setup with an 8L on 12 cells would be really light and quick. what do you guys think i should do? im already killing all the nitros, but i need to beable to run 10 minutes to win the race. not kill them for 7 minutes and then die andcome in last place.

You should have people lining up to get that race bomb since its a limited edition. I think you should sell it and go with the GMAXX CF. I know Mike races with the CF chassis. If I build a second GMAXX it will be the CF Chassis for sure.

I would say first try UE or Maxxtraxx forums. If not though it on ebay. I am sure you can get $250 for it.

I will get all the g-maxx stuff in as soon as it comes in the the machinist. I hope to have it all by the end of the upcoming week (this is the timeframe George has given me). I haven't run a racebomb chassis, so I can't really comment on the handling. I do know the g-maxx is quite a bit lighter and has a lower CG as well. Two plusses in my book.

hey mike,

when you race, do you run the extender on your g-maxx?

Yes. I have one g-maxx without the extension (had it before g-maxx offered the extension), but I have a homemade extension on this one - 12.75" wheelbase. Longer is definately better for the whoops, jumps and rough track sections. The shorter on mentioned above mostly sees inside track racing (short and tight track).

It adds about 1/2" to the g-maxx chassis.
