Exclamation New Fastest Production Car - 07.31.2006, 09:46 AM

Some may have seen this. There is a new 'Worlds Fastest Production Car'. Some of you may be thinking, thumbs up to whoever out-done Buggatti. Well... it's another Buggatti. The Buggatti Veyron GT.

Power has increased by 345HP, from 987HP to 1282HP (the 1,001 was in PS)
Top speed has been increased from 254MPH to 272MPH (article shows 252MPH)
Price has risen by £70,000 ($140,000 approx.)

Now for the article.

Sorry but i find that hard to believe, the mags are famous for dreaming up this sort of stuff. What magagzine was it in? i'd take it with a pinch of salt for now,it took like 6 years for them to build a transmission to do the miles with 1000hp.plus they lose over 4 million or something on every sale?(that seems like BS aswell,300x4million,that's alot of money to lose even for VW)Also the top speed is limited due to tyres,so it seems unlikely that a more powerful version would have a higher top speed.Maybe i'm just synical though.

Love the car and all but, my only complaint about alot of these new Super cars recently (Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes/MacLaren SLR, Veyron...) is they only come in auto transmissions. Ok so it's an automanual, what the heck is that? It's still an automatic. To me, unless it's got that 3rd pedal on the floor known as the clutch, It's an automatic. A true sports car to me has a stick and a clutch. JMO.
Yes I understand that a manual can't handle some of the horse power these cars are putting out (so the manufacturer claims anyway) but dammit, I say if we can put a man on the moon then why the heck can't we build a tranny that can handle a measly 1000hp.:035:

Zonda F and Carrera GT have proper gearboxes, they're a little more like drivers cars, still along way from a useable sports car though, too big and wide and low for real roads and not much use on a track either, they don't seem to have a real life use these ultra cars, not a road car,not a race car, pointless.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say pointless, I would say that the comfort level is not that great. I was fortunate enough to be able to drive a Lamborghini Diablo roadster a few years ago. Hands down the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven. Would I own one? ABSOLUTELY!
These cars are only ment to be driven a couple thousand miles a year anyway.

Id love for someone to take one of those to a tune up garage and put it on the horse-power measuring devices they got.

Im extremely curious to the the new Veyron GT's torque rating. Old Veyron was about 940ft/lb. New one must be over 1000!!!
