E-MonsterTorque - 10.06.2008, 01:15 PM

Greetings everybody.

I started a build not long ago, for a crawler, IFS, IRS, trail climber, water proof vehicle. i will sum it all as a trail-crawler, this is the original tread and a explication of how this monstrosity came into being.

to sum it further:
  • Traxxas E-Maxx 3905
  • Twin Novak brushed 55T in parallel
  • Twin TowerPro MG995 servos
  • Mamba Max brushed /w reverse
  • Futaba 3PM2.4G
  • HPI Super Mudders Tires
  • Maximizer zero offset beadlocks
  • 2s2p 10,000Mah MA lipos or
  • 6s2P 8,400 NiMH Packs

I recently added the CC Mamba Max and 2s2p 10000mAh MA lipos, MM is a very substantial improvement over the traxxas EVX2, more punch less heat
Last weekend I did a 1 hour run with mt 3 year old son to a near by river park only used about 2500mAh so i guess this packs are good for a 4 hour trail walk not that i intend to walk that much but nice to have stupid large amounts of run time so in my next fishing trip I won't be worried about recharging batteries to much.

Here is a 3min Vid [MP4]

Also for those eagletree fans here is the data of that run.

Just now I received a package from Tower, with the close and wide gear ratio for the 3905 maxx tranny, idler gear and stuff.
I think I'll be back to NiMH as i missed the weight, it had more traction then.

This is brushless forum, so you should check out some outrunner motors for your maxxcrawler

Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster 3014 seems very interesting and is specially made for sensorless crawling. You can also try some bigger motors, like 3020, 3026 or even amazing 3032 :) These motors run smooth enough for crawling.

You have excess of energy and MM ESC. That obliges you to do this

> HB L2PE + MMM + Medusa 60-1600 @ 6S A123
> HB LSP + MMM + Medusa 70-1600 @ 6S2P A123
> AE B44 + MM + Medusa 50-3300 @ 4S A123
> AE J82 + SW 5700 @ 2S LiPo
> AE TC5R + MM 6900 @ 2S LiPo

OMG.. you turned a Traxxas 3905 into a crawler.. That’s GREAT... The Video was cool.. I kept waiting for the boy to smash the truck.. Kids will be kids.

Outstanding build Sir.. Well done and very cool...

haha, "you have excess amounts of power, that obliges you to go brushless"

you're trapped now. LOL.

good build though Jefierro.

i think i might go get a crawler for my next project.

Nice build - Thats generally how I get to run my stuff talking my 5 yr old son and dog for a walk in the woods / down the park...

Really nice job - No need for brushless everywhere!

Thanks all, i know is not brushless, maybe I'll get one of those out-runner in the future, but then it wont' be water/splash proof, also with this much mAh the run times will go up even more.

Just installed the wide gear last night, the output gear needed a little modding to fit without the 2d speed kit, but it worked grate, now i fear this thing will tear it self apart, definitely now a torque monster. That and 100% drag brakes, I can't turn the wheels pushing the truck on the ground. very impressive, Slow as hell, but expected. I Can't wait to get this thing back to the river again.

I was planning on getting a enRoute Berg 2.2 when i finish with the EMT, but there's something about darn rockcrawlers that i still don't like, too out of scale maybe some to small, but I'm starting to like that kyosho RF. let's see what traxxas has to offer.
