JEDI Savage

Well I am new to this site. I came from E-savage.com and wanted to come here and share what Im doing. I always use the name JEDI in forums so I call my truck the JEDI Savage. Anyway Here goes most of the build.

Here is the savage with FLM hybrid plates which use the E-Savage transmission with the GP front and rear ends. Integy msr8 shocks "wich are going to be changed out for LOSI lst ones. And for wheels and tires, IMEX jumbo maxx claw dogs wrapped around New era 40 series aluminum wheels.

I didnt like the stock motor position and wanted something low. Back in early December I saw a spy shot of the flux and the way the motor was mounted gave me ideas. So I went and got some foam board to play with and....







Then I got to talking to Chris at GCM machine "Chris and his company are outstanding" and he told me he would make me the part out of aluminum. So I sent it to him and got back the first JEDI mount.

And so it was born "JEDI mount". I fit it in my chassis and it was perfect. Plenty of room for the big castle neu 2200 "which is enormous" and had room for pinion adjustment. The trick with this mount is the motor is dead center in between the TVP's so I can still use the inboard E-Savage mounts. Which IMO look way better then battery boxes hanging off the sides. And it seems to be perfectly balanced because everything is symmetrical.







And here it is with the big castle neu inside with mmm on top.

Here is a close up so you can see the ESC and motor. Notice I also added a 40mm fan that mounted perfectly to the esc tray that blows directly down on the motor.

And here I added XL axles to add a little width and the dog bones are alot better.







So now I am waiting on the CEN diffs to arrive. When I put in the diffs with 14t pinion and 47t spur the complete gear ratio is 16.9 which is very close to the flux. Also waiting on the LST shocks. When I get it all together I will add final pics. Any comments or questions are welcome. :)

Looking good so far. Is this the stock tranny, spur and slipper out of an e-savage? If so ... be carefull with slipper setting. Even with a less powerfull motor (Kontronik FUN 600/2500) powered by 12 cell Nimhs (around 1000 Watt peak) my spur started to wobble after a few runs due to the heat caused by the slipper (running a n otherwise stock e-zilla). The 2200kv castle motor will melt your spur if your slipper is set to loose. Your tires won't be easy on your tranny either. The e-savage uses way lighter and smaller tires. But i guess you are already well aware of this facts.

Wheight distribution reminds me of the savage flux which features a somewhat longer wheelbase. Expect some wheelies ;-)

Do you plan on running the castle combo with nimhs or can you fit lipos inside the stock battery holder?

I will run it with LIPO only.The lipos fit fine due to the TVP's being spaced out further due to the conversion. Im going to start with 2 4s packs. As for the spur/slipper, in the pics it is the stock e savage stuff 66t spur in 32p. But thos are older pics and it now sports a steel GP savage spur that is 47t and mod1 pitch. The gears in the center are stock but I have a full set of custom hardened steel ones in the works. Gonna run it with the stock ones first just to note on how long they last.

I'm looking forward to how the cen diffs hold up. My brother has a brushless savage XL, and although the dogbones are stronger (thicker, etc) they also have a lot less torsional give, and he starting snapping teeth from the diff pinion gear. Converted back to the old shafts though and the problem went away. Just that slight bit of extra give in the dogbones seemed to make all the difference. He was running a feigao 12xl on 6s. now has a 2200 mamba combo and it loving it haha, that motor is awesome :D

Looking good! I'm not sure that the stock gears in your tranny will stay in one piece for long with all that weight, but I'm sure those hardened steel ones you've got lined up will do the job. I'm loving the Jumbo Dawgs, by the way; I always loved that tyre lol. Keep us posted.
