Please, I need help with wiring - 08.15.2005, 11:03 AM

Hi ,

I need some help figuring out how to wire my ESC, Motor, Batteries , Servo and Reciever :)

Here is what I have:

Warrior 9920 ESC
Lehner basic 1600xl
2 - 11.1 v Lipoly 3S batteries ( need to wire them in series for ~24 volts)
Hitec 645 ultra torque servo
Airtronics MX3 reciever

So I have a few questions.....

First on wiring the batteries in series, I have the dean plugs on them now, I guess I have to get rid of them? And then connect the + on battery A to - on battery B, and then that will leave me with one free + on battery B and one free - on battery A? Is this correct? Is there any way to do this without getting rid of the dean plugs?

Ok, I understand the 3 connections coming out of the ESC that should go to the motor, there isnt any specific matchup in order is there? I can just connect any one to any one?

now for connecting the ESC to the batteries, the controller currently is connected to 2 deans plugs, there are 2 red wires going to one slot on dean plug A, and then there are 2 black wires going to one slot on dean plug B, then there is a wire connecting the open slots on A and B. The bottom line is I need to send the ~24 volts from the batteries to the ESC, how do I hook them up, is there a way to do it using the dean plugs?

Last question is related to the connections on the Airtronics MX3 reciever, there are 4 slots:
1 - Steering Servo
2 - Throttle Servo
3 - AUX
4 - Separate from the rest and labeled B/DSC

I assume I connect the Hitec Servo to # 1
Connect the ESC to #2
do I connect the on/off switch to this as well? If so, which slot?

I assume it work's the same as my hacker controller so here we go;

You got 2 wire's from the esc, black and red(- and +). Take the red and solder a dean's to it, make sure it is on +. Then do the same thing with the black wire, also makeing sure it is on -. Now you got 2 dean's plug's with each 1 tab open. + on one and - on the other. As you probably guessed it, solder a piece of wire in between long enough to get to the battery's. But, I don't know how long you can make the esc wire cause some people say it's fine other's say you can fry the esc if wires are to long. On my hacker it doesn't seem to matter.

If the above does not apply to the Warrior, please correct me. Else your done w/ the first step. No need to change battery connector's.

For the esc --> motor wireing, there is one wire you should always get correct. I'm not sure what terminal it is, but it is the signal wire. The other 2 are just + and - and can be swapped without a problem(you only need to adjust the setting's on your radio cause it might go in reverse instead of forward). If you switch the signal wire the motor won't move. I'm sure that anyone can fill you up on the correct wireing.

You are correct for the wireing of the receiver. Do you want to use a receiver pack? If so, use the last slot(B) w/ a on/ off switch. If you want to use the warrior's internal BEC you don't have to do a thing.

Hope this help's a bit. Not sure if this apply's to the hacker set-up i'm using though.

If that apply's to the warrior your set, that's my set-up right there. Someone else need's to hop in and give the final answer.

I've noticed you got 2 black and 2 red wires off the esc right?
I think you'd fry that esc if connected that way. So 1 black and 1 red wire is for 1 battery pack I guess. Well since I have no experience w/ the warrior i'll shut up now or I might give you the wrong info lol.

Good luck.

Edit,

ok this is getting confusing. You say you got 2 black and 2 red wire's from the esc? But in this picture there are only 1 red and 1 black wire. Allthough it is the 9118, i'm pretty sure the 9220 is the same(cept more amp's)

This is emaxx4190 emaxx, see the battery wires?

I would personally use a UBEC with teh 9920 if you are using it on 24 volts! the BEC will suffer from this high voltage..

@sneeck; The new 9920 has got all the wires double, (input and output) you need to connect both wires of one phase to one plug

The way you drawed is good, but i would personally use a seperate receiver pack or a UBEC..

Ok we sorted that out. Do you know how to wire the motor?

@ Mike the picture of the 9220 controller isn't the right one lol.

You can wire a BL non sensored motor any way you like it.. You can't go wrong.. if it turns the wrong direction, just change two wires out of the three..

Serum's right about the wiring. I agree with him on that UBEC, too. Get a Koolflight UBEC, or a 5cell rx pack.

I like the ubec better than a pack. Lighter and don't have to charge seperate batteries.

Peace!

That's not the way you can wire the hacker c-50 as far as I know. You got 1 signal wire which must be on a specific place else it won't turn over, or so I have been told. The 2 other's can be swapped, but not all 3.
