Greetings everyone, been lurking in the background here for a while, kinda figured I ought to register. I am getting to the point on my BL project that I may have the need for a few bits of advice. I have found this to be a very informative forum, and an invaluable resource thus far.
Thanks in Advance

I feel pretty good about what we have goin' so far. I started my son off with a MiniT. He loved it could not keep him in the House. I picked up a Losi XXXTII for myself and quickly converted to BL Novak5800SS, Smooth like Butter. Next we moved on to an Emaxx, fairly stock, RPM full skids, braces and bumper, lightened it up a bit with Sporttraxx tire wheel combo, couple of heat sinks for the motors and one tooth lower on the pinions, my boy likes the wheelies, kinda typical I suppose for an 8year old. My latest project is a full on ground up Brushless Gmaxx, alot of UE parts, in the mock up stage now, The majority of the pieces and parts are here now, or on their way. We'd like to see it run in the next 30 days.:D

What Brushless system are you planning on running? I wish I had the money to be able to say I'm going to get a full G-Maxx/Supermaxx truck...... . I don't even have a job yet, still at school......

Motor is Lehner1940/6,speedo is warrior/9918. Not certain what to expect performance wise.

I reckon you should get quite a bit of performance out of that motor, how many cells are you running - 12?

I am not sure exactly what to do for cells. I'll probably run 14-16. The 1940/6 specs are 2613rpm/v 50k rpm max. If my math is correct 16 is at the limit. I am pretty green at this stuff. The watts amps thing is still greek to me. Any body got some experience on this topic?

Welcome to the forum. I have learned alot from these guys so listen close to what they say. As i said i am still learning, but i do know that motor is a hoss and a half it may be too much for that controler but i'm not sure the ones to ask are RCmonster mike and serum they the best to answer most questions about that
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Hi Papa! Welcome to this forum,
That 1940/6 a rather hot motor (it will take serious amps on 16 cells) but with the right gearing and perhaps a fan on the 9920, it would be fine.
It would be a blast on 16 cells for sure.
I you are planning on on running 16 cells all the time, i would get the 1940/7
What is the reason you choose a 1940 over a feigao motor?
the feigao 7XL is also a very good choice for 14-16 cells. (even 18 works like a charm (rocket allert))

That is a heck of a motor for sure. I think 12-14 cells would be the cell count to run it with. You should get excellent performance with it. I would run 16/66 or 18/66 with the stock diffs as a starting point on gearing. this will get you in the mid to upper 30s or low 40s, with plenty of power. A fan on the controller wouldn't hurt, either.

Without to much detail, I got the motor and contoler as part of a package purchase with the Gmaxx chassis and single speed. All things considered it felt like a freebie. I want a fan for the speedo and/or motor to keep the temps reasonable. Just not sure how to go about that process yet?
Couple of things I think might be helpful:
Parts I will be running the single speed, and strobe slipper/spur don't remember the pitch or gearing, VBS towered bulkless with UE 7.5 8 spyder ratio 3.31:1. I have not made a decision yet on tire wheel combo. I am thinking 23mm 40 series. I have the dace 23mm adapters.
Where will I run? Some bashing around the house ie... grass sidewalk street. I hear ther is a pretty active race track about 30 minutes south of here, have to check that scene out. Primarily, we run at a place called the POLO fields. Picture if you will, a huge manicured grass feild , guessing 400yds x 800yds couple of football feilds laid out side by side, there is also an "all season field" it is geo-thermally warmed and drained, read no snow in the winter, surface is pretty loose over hardpack. Typically we throw out a few cones, ramps and chase each other around our course. NO NITRO here, it freaks out the horses. Just don't show up when they are having a match or show. Its a public park so it is used for many activities. No problem with our rocket collection, or kites.
Well thats the skinny. HeLp?

I am going to have to pick up some new cells regardless. It seems like I might just as well go with the 14 cell setup.
What effect will the 3.31:1 diff ratio have on the gear recomendation?
Mike do you have an appropriate fan for the speed control?
Papa
