I just finished converting over to brushless. My setup is:
Mamba with fan
Novak HV 4.5
True rc 4s 8000mah
I made the conversion myself [battery tray, esc mount, motor mount]
On a 45 degree day after 15 min of running motor temps were 80 degrees and the esc was at 145, this is before I put the fan on.

Looks good. You should try the 5mm conversion for the HV motor when they come out. I will be buying it for sure.

I just got my 5mm conversion and threw it in a brand new 6.5hv. I may test it with 3s in the crt.5 and see who it compares to the plett maxximum.

Yep, my LHS ordered it from great planes, so Tower hobbies should have it available. It went together nicely, and the shaft has a flat area grond on it all the way to the bearing. Nicely made just like all of novak's motors.

The rotor is small in diameter, but long so I think it will make a nice 3s motor fot the crt.5. Not sure if it will be better than the plett, but the 1/8" shaft on the plett was bothering me, as there is no slipper on the crt.5. I may put the plett in an emaxx on 4s, and see how it does!

Lincpimp keep us updated on the Novak HV with 5mm. However, I've found that the 1/8 motor shaft is not the weak link. It is the center drive shafts. I seized the main bearing in my Novak 6.5 (non-HV) and both center drive shafts bent, but not the motor shaft. This happened when I was at full speed WOT on the back straight at my local track. I was even running very grippy clay specific truck tires. Of course other motors may not have as high quality shaft as the Novak stuff?

My LHS called today and my 5mm upgrade came in.
Hopefully I will have it in by the weekend.
