Conversion of Aftershock - 03.30.2008, 11:16 AM

Hi

Well my E-maxx project is almost done, and I am on to the next one. I have a brand new Aftershock, but aren´t really that much into nitro, so I want to convert it to a faster and more reliable setup, in stead of the noisy nitro engine.

Anybody know if there are any drop in brushless conversions for a Losi Aftershock, other than the one offered by Finedesign?

What motor/esc combo would you suggest to this project?

Jesper

I am in the process of doing the same conversion. I plan to use a KB 4510xl motor with a cc hv85 esc. Batteries will be a pair of flightpower 3700 25c 4s packs wired in series for 8s total. I will keep the mech brakes and 2 speed, and use mike's 2 speed adapter with the stock 18/25 pinions, and stock spurs too. The motor is 1200kv, so it will spin a little bit faster on 8s lipo than the stock motor, so top speed will be a little more than with the nitro motor.

I have not found a motor mount, so i plan to make my own out of al angle, and make a rear support for the motor too. It will be placed where the stock nitro motor goes. I will have one battery tray in the fuel tank loaction, and the other between the steering servos and the tranny. The brake servo will be relocated next to the tranny to make room for the front battery tray.

I just need to get off my ass and start the project. I have had the truck for more than 6 months now, and bought it brand new.

the LST runs very nice with the KB-45 XLs... VERY VERY NICE.... I have 6S-8S with KB 45, 1200 KV... runs great.. and stays fairly cool..

I'm just using first gear... 24/72 Gearing...

That is good to know aqwut. You are the authority on larger stuff with lots of voltage!
