I like A123, but I need opinions on this -

I was looking through youtube to see if there were any new things being done with A123 cells and this is what I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbpGR28fGvo. What the hell is he trying to prove? I can't see this happening in real life and I have pushed my A123 packs beyond what they claim and I love them.
I asked a simple question and I see you guys just dropped the bomb on that kid . He actually made me want to buy more A123s. He just did the crazy work for us and now I know I can push them even more.
Thats the thing, it was completely pointless. 200*C is an insane temp, you would never see that in any real world situation, plus he slowly heated the cell to the point of failure, where as in an Rc or electric vehicle application amp spikes that create heat wouldnt cause the cell to reach those temps, plus you have moving air to keep them cool usually. Gives me cool ideas for some IEDs though.....
That was quite a pointless test. Not to mention a waste of ~$16, a perfectly good A123 cell, and whatever time was involved.
Let him keep wasting money . I want to see what other battery type he'll do next just to see if any will ever come close to A123. I would never do something like that, but I kind of like to see other people doing it.

Keep in mind it took 20 minutes of abuse to make it go. That is 20 minutes of glory if you ask me.
Neil, will you let me know when the arms dealers start selling A123 cells? I'm sure they would be much cheaper than retail!
BTW, before I read his description of the video I though he had the A123 cell in a microwave! I was like "You got to be kidding me".
Then I read what he did and I was like "YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!".

If you read his video description he basically says that they are safe cells but they can still be dangerous under the right conditions. All the fuss is about the fact that there is no way in hell that you would EVER see a 400*F environment anywhere those cells were used. That's why the test was completely pointless.
