BCE chassis kit for Hyper ST due out soon- pics inside - 07.28.2008, 10:45 AM

BCE has been working on a chassis kit for the Hyper ST and its almost ready. The are planning to drop the spur to 46T from 52T and ditch the center brace. On mine I already dropped to a 46T spur as BL has enough power to pull the gearing. I left the C brace in tho. The spur doesn't even come down to the chassis level. Only downside is the Neu is so wide I can only fit a 14 or 15T pinion as the smallest gear on there due to the rear brace.
A few things have been pulled in as well. Looks like a nice kit:

looks sweet (are they going to make a electric chassis ?) , me and a friend engineer have produced a top mount motor plate and we run the 46 spur , this provides a perfect weight balance and a option of split cells are now available (2s in series or even as pictured 4s2p) also got plans for a 8s setup once i find a suitable speedy

picture is only a prototype but we now have a final design we are happy with

Right now it has a 1515 2.5D on 4S. It actually runs really well, but just a bit lacking on the top end. Its only barely faster than the .28 nitros lol, but still w/ lots of kick for jumps.

When the MMM comes out and I get some more cells I will change my packs to 5S and run that. I don't intend to go the overpower route. Did that when I 1st got started, fun for a basher, but uncontrollable on the track and just breaks lots of parts otherwise. I put too much time and money into my trucks to just destroy them.

Can't get the pics here - but if you read the detail they are changing alot - Centre diff, f&r diffs, braces etc.

Sounds like that will set you back a couple of hundred bucks - I'm no pro so really don't think that I'd be able to notice that much of a difference... Changing the tires to the LPR crimefighters though was amazing...

PS I'm running mine on 1515/2.5DF 5s with a MM with no issues at all.

The nice thing should be is that for BL use all you really should need is the chassis. The other diffs are to get a lower FDR w/ the nitro engine, but you shouldn't have to do this w/ BL. The motors have more TQ, Mike's mount puts them close, and if you had a 36mm can you could prolly gear as low as 12/46 or less no probs. I'm currently 15/46 on my 2.5D. I got a 46T and another 48T spur coming from a hyper 8 for ~$25. I should be able to gear 13/48 w/ the Neu. So really all you'd need is the chassis if you were so inclined. $100 maybe?

We'll see how they turn out, BCE does some nice work. The stone guards should be cool also. I know my ST was a mess from the last race. Nice to see the ST is getting some attention.

IIRC you had to grind your Neu to get it to fit with the 46T if you go to 5s you are going to have even more fit issues if you don't want to fo 20% quicker... The 48 will give you another 2mm clearance I guess

BCE obviously makes a great looking and performing chassis. I've never heard anyone who has had one complaint about form, fit, or function. However, back before Mike's .5 chassis was available I paid for one of their chssis kits after being told directly that it was in stock and ready to ship. Several weeks later I was forced to threaten action @ paypal to finally get them to refund my money after several excuses about why it had not arrived. After doing my reaserch, too late as usual, I found several others on TruggyRacers.com who had shared my experience. The point: If you have all the time in the world and some hip waders, go for it. But if your like me and can't stomach the b.s. or a long wait, might think twice. They are second on my list of companies never to deal with.

I take no pleasure in bashing people or companies but if I can save someone else the same grief I've experienced I feel it's my obligation to try and do so.
