Pinion problems. - 08.20.2008, 12:32 AM

So- I have this project.

For this project I need a pinion. This pinion needs to have 12 teeth, be 32 pitch, and have a 6 millimeter bore. It seems that the problem is that 6mm bore. Where can I get "hybrid" pinions; SAE pitch with a Metric bore?

I've already checked SDP-SI. I don't see them on RC-M. Could Mike make a custom pinion?

If Mike can't do it, I think you might be able to get SDP-SI to do it for you. It would require contacting them and getting a quote, of course.

If Mike or that other place cannot do it, maybe give kershaw designs a shot. They tend to have odd pinions (some of which are not listed).

I can't imagine why Mike wouldn't be able to bore out a pinion though (if I remember right, he has a whole CNC dealy set up, right- including drill press?).

This may or may not be of use-
Kershaw sells a 15t 32p 6mm pinion.

Thanks guys. I'll shoot Mike an email.

BL_RV0, it has to be a 12T pinion because it's part of a planetary gearbox.

Can't you drill out a 5mm?

I probably could, except I don't have any 32P gears at all. I don't have a 6mm drill bit either. I figure once I bought both of those I may as well have bought one that was RTR.
