Question How many MMM's work and how many dont? - 09.01.2008, 01:57 PM

I have had two already, one died during calibration, the other after 10 min total driving. Both were v2's with no mods. Would like to just see how many people have had no problems at all, and how many people have had failures.
Have been in the hobby for a long time and NEVER had problems like this with my electronics. I can deal with the fact that i wont be driving my car, but i am not happy about having paid x amount of dollars for two v2 controllers that are worthless. I dont want to rant or stir stuff up i would just like to see for my own personal satisfaction how many people are in the same boat as myself and many others.

I don't know, but what i can say, is that CC is in a big boat, on a very angry ocean, and the tunel is very dark. And i don't know if CC could finaly see the light at the end of this tunel.
Patrick and all his staff have a big problem on their arms, and i hope that they'll can solve this problem before a companies like Novak of LRP come with a solid and reliable HV controller for 1/8 scale vehicule.
And i'am sure that Novak and LRP will offer this products in a very near futur.
Losi just exit their BL system, it's only 5s, but i'am sure that if their present system work good on 5s, they'll offer realy soon a 6s + controller.

I've a MMM V2 who'll supose to arrive this week, it is for sale now, but i can't sale it before i'll recieve it, i'll give it a try. If he died, i'll return it to CC and stop the electric R/C right now.

I'am tired to deal with poor controller. They've no companie for now who can claim that their controller is reliable. This is all dump.....

yeah..... i dont know how this is all gonna turn out but seems to me that ALL MMM have had a lifespan of couple months at most (except briang's!!!). problem is looking like the bec is going out and disabling the controller. doesnt castle make a ccbec as well? why not use its design, or damn the bec altogether. i would rather use an external bec rather than have to ship my esc in every month. not an electrical engineer or anything so i cant really help in that respect.

My v1 died after about an hour but I'm pretty sure it was my 8xl that killed it, not CC's fault but they replaced it with a v2 that I have about an hour on now with no problems since I got it working. Had a problem getting it to work at first because I had to update the firmware, since then no problems running with a 1515 2.5d Tekno Neu on 4s. Fan only comes on at startup, highest temp it has seen is 127* and that was running through tall/thick grass.

Although you may be right, not sure though, I think percentage wise they are doing better. If I remember correctly there was only 750 v1's released and they had about a 10% failure. I'm pretty sure that they have released many more v2's, at least 3 times that, so even if there was 150 failures, they're still ahead. Although I'm fairly new to the BL world I have learned alot in my short time here. I read alot of these threads. I beleive that I had read that they had similar failure rates with the MM. Now we have a near bulletproof esc that is getting pushed far beyond it's intended limits. I honestly beleive that everyone needs to be patient. We are really asking a lot of these controllers and of CC.

i agree the more controllers you produce the more failures you will end up with. but man it sucks to wait so long and have 2 go bad while i watch others grin ear to ear while they destroy their cars in MMM heaven...lol

i feel confident from my minimal exp. with the controller it wil be solid, someday. when that is or what it takes to get there, have no clue. like many said/know this MMM is a good package deal ie. price, features, etc. but in the land of instant gratification, we want it now(like it helps!lol)

I know when mine ded it died after ten minutes of running 4S in a 3905 E-MAXX and it was geared 18/68,it died and while I was at my Bashing spot I looked at the MMM and tried turning it off then on again it jumped about a foot or less,I took it home turned it on again and he same thing waited ten minutes or so it turned on again all the light's were flashing and it was wanting me to recailbrate it to the radio again so I did and it started the same thing all over again just jump's a foot then die's.The voltage from the BEC when I took a reading with my voltmeter was at .25 volt's.I think it could be another BEC problem were seeing but I'm no expert so I'm olny guessing,I was not using a CC/BEC with my MMM but did with my MM now I'm wishing I had, don't know if it would have made a difference though. On a lighter note here's a good MMM joke for you guy's.
How many idiot's does it take to find a reliable MMM in a mountain of MMM'S,give up,zero idiot's there is no such thing as a reliable MMM.
If you read my joke Patrick you gotta admit it's sort of funny, unless you read my joke just after your next profit meeting then you'll be laughing saying the next time that Bastard calls in saying his MMM is another dud tell him to get bent and we'll see who's laughing now.
