e-revo conversion glitch - 09.05.2008, 12:46 AM

i have a revo conversion with a
mx-3 fm tx,
airtonics 92836 rx,
mmm
5s1p zippy 5000mah
medusa 60mm 2000kv
should this system have bad radio glitching for some reason. I get out about 20ft or so and it jumps to brakes sometimes.
the rx is in the stock brake and reverse servo compartment, both servos are removed with the antena coming out of the box
any ideas
thanks
thanks

Do you happen to have a receiver battery you can try out? That would at least be able to determine if the glitching is the result of the MMM's switching BEC.

I had the same problem with my conversion. I was running a futaba fm radio. I ended up putting a spektrum system in it and have had no problems since. You could try isolating some of the wiring. I don't know how you have it all set up but if you have all the wiring, reciever, bec, etc all bunched up and close together that can cause interference. I second metal man as well try different configs if you have the means. See what works.

i can try the receiver pack (though not right now stripped a spur gear doh..) it seemed to work fine with my 16.8v emaxx, could the increase in power to 18.5v make the difference?
thanks for the replies

This is one gremlin I'm very happy to say I haven't had to deal with yet. I run with Spektrum DSM2 (DX3R tx SR3100 rx) and haven't had any problems. I have no first hand experience with this so I'm not sure I can help but I will try. Any wire passing current through it has a field around it. A trick often used to eliminate this field is twisting wires around each other. I have seen servos that have the wires twisted/braided. Any wires that are neer your rx you could try this with, esc/servo wires plugging into rx.

Good luck, hope you get it figured out.

Other methods to reduce/eliminate RFI is to use a ferrite bead or donut around the wire, use a capacitor on the power wire (if it is entering that way), and of course, moving things around to get the low-voltage wires and antenna well away from any high current wires.

ok brian g would a ferrite ring be in a power cord or usb cord or anything that is a cord that has a extra lump near the ends of it and looks like a magnet when you cut it out

and if so does the esc wire have to run through it or can i make a loop and shove that through it as the picks show
thanks

so i went to my buddies house outside of the city, and my truck ran with no glitching. the interference must be outside of the truck right? i had noticed i was always near power lines when i had problems. could this easily have been my the issue whole time, power lines?

those power lines leak a fair amount of power. I had a friend who lived near some and you could raise one of those long flourecent light bulbs into the air and it will light
