Align Hybrid Motors question -
10.01.2008, 10:30 PM
Why is it that a normal outrunner can only spin at a max of 15k rpm while the hybrid outrunner motors can spin at 40k?

depends on the size of the can. smaller can=higher rpm

IIRC most outrunners are 10-12 poles. The align motor is just an inside out mega 6 pole motor. The spinning can adds some mass, and helps in the heli enviorment where motor speed is optimium in a very small window.
Plus most escs are going to have a hard time working a 12 pole motor at higher rpm.
After running an align motor, it was too slow to spool up, and ran too hot for my liking. Most heli guys upgrade the 600xl to a 19 series Neu... I would certainly take a neu over a align, better comparision would be a medusa, and the 70mm versions from medusa should be great.

Any idea when the 70mm medusas will be out? I'd love to get one for the hyper st.

That's not too far off. I'd sell the align but I doubt anyone would want it... I'll probably just end up keeping it in the hyper.

Everything sells. Try rcgroups in the electric power system section. I have sold all but one motor there...

BL_RV0, The 600xl is not a 1100 motor. I made spefically sure that it was rewound to stock delta wind which is 1650kv. Its hitting around 30k rpms.
