Brushless help - 10.07.2008, 08:29 PM

Hey all,
I need some help with my brushless system. The problem is that the motor will not turn at all most of the time but randomly it does work when I start the system up, and when it does work it will sometimes work at near full power but other times it will have very little power.

The truck has been sitting around for a few months waiting for some parts but before I put it away it worked fine. The only thing I changed was I put a rc monster 2 speed adapter on.
I have the motor and esc from the fine design lst conversion kit and a max amps battery (BK Warrior 100amp 20 cell esc I think and the Fine Design equivalent to the feigao 9xl) . I have tried using a different battery but it still does not work and the drive terrain of the truck is free moving.

Thanks for the help.

sounds like either
A. needs to be recalibrated
B.Esc might be on its way out

Maxamps, finedesign- not exactly the best combo

Ya I know but I got the esc, motor, and mounts for $180, Im also testing with 3s Flightpower batteries. The esc did require some work though soldering surface mounts.

Check all of you solder joints between the esc and motor. Give them a good tug, and check the conectors (if you have any) for corrosion. And recalibrate the radio.

Wow, I am stupefied by your genius...

A bunch ofcogging, and very quick heating of both the motor and esc usually signify a bad motor, or bad contacts.

Sounds like the problem i had, contacts between the motor and esc seem fine, time to check the internal connections I guess.

check shorts between windings, between can and winding, or if your rotor de-magged

Well it looks like it is the esc, the esc was unable to power my castle creations motor while the mamba max was able to power the fiegao motor. Can anyone recommend a good esc for a 4 cell fiegao 9xl setup on an LST?

MM with a fan, and a few extra caps. The lst is heavy, but you are running a 2 speed and mech brakes? Should be ok that way.

I was noticing my motor was getting really hot with not much use, could a bad motor take out an ESC?
