1521 Motor - ? Damaged Rotor - RC-Monster Forums

I got a 1521 /1D motor that the rotor does not turn over smoothly. So I took it out and noticed that one of the magnets had shifted slightly and the wrapping was slightly torn. Can I resurrect this rotor or do I need to buy a new one at $55? I live in the UK and shipping the motor back to the castle is a non brainer as it will cost more in postage.

its probably worth it just to send it back, then need to buy a whole new motor later on

Contact Steve Neu and send him those pictures. I'm sure he'll send you new rotors without you having to send that one back.

Looks like you could glue the magnet back on with epoxy and rewap the rotor with kevlar thread. You would have to remove the old wrap, which may be very difficult. Contact neu and they will most likely send you another rotor. They have always given me excellent service!

It may be more than a new rotor. Did it mess up any of the windings in the can?

No thankfully the windings look fine - the electromagnets dont appear to ahve any surface damage.

I had a email from Alexander - he suggested using heat resistant epoxy. I will have a go - I am too scared that the magnet fragement may come off and damage the can.

In the end I shelled out $55 to buy a new rotor - I guess living in the UK I dont have the luxury of having a quick turnaround. I think I will stick to my Lehner motors as over here it is faster to deal with Lehner MT.
