updated my MMM V1, now it's dead - 11.07.2008, 08:59 PM

I've been running my MMM V1, bought from mike on the orginal preorder, with no changes or updates until today. I figured I should update the firmware since they supposedly worked out the bugs, guess I should have left good enough alone. I ran for a couple of minutes and went to change the brake amount with the controller. Shut it off and went to turn it back on again....dead. No lights, no beeping, nothing.

Bummer. I guess the lesson here is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I just took the switch apart, turns out it's just a crappy switch not a firmware problem. Thankfully don't have to send it back!

neither, I took the switch apart and re-bent the metal contact plate. I was going to buy another switch, but couldn't find one that would fit properly, didn't look too hard though.

a switch is a switch is a switch.

a single pole single throw of anykind would work. guess it comes down to how big it is or the style

Lost the Switch on my V1 two weeks ago. At least they're consistent.

I usually use an enclosed-frame style switch. Even though the CC switch is in a little plastic holder, dirt still finds its way in there. Plus, those switches tend to be a little on the chintzy side.

An easy to find SPST (single-pole, single throw) switch: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062497

Note about the switches: There is a lower amperage 0.3A version, but I would stay away from it. Even though the ESC switch doesn't need the higher 3A version, the switch pressure is stronger and would have less tendency to bounce off when landing a hard jump.

heh I had the same problem but the opposite, after I upgraded to 1.20; the damn thing wouldn't switch off, and I was like 'wtf? an MMM that refuses to switch off at the switch??" After a little more rocking it eventually worked. Broke out the contact cleaner sprayed liberally over the switch and it's fine now.
