Brushless ST-RR: Update - 03.28.2009, 02:32 PM

Here are some updated pictures of my Kyosho ST-RR brushless truggy which I have set up to use front and rear adjustable mech brakes. You have to use a motor spacer to get enough clearence for the brake pads. I am using fiber rotors because they are more compact and you don't have to space the motor out as far. I only had to drill one extra hole in the chassis (for the rear battery tray mount). I am using a TeknoNeu 1515/1Y on 5s lipo, gearing is 15T/50T.

Here is a shot of the fiber brake disc

Shot showing how the spacer allows the brake mounting screw to clear the motor

Very nice Shark!!!! Did you make the for the brake servo?

I'm rnning the same gear setup now with 30K CD oil in my ST RR to help lower the motor temp.

George16, yeah I made the brake servo mount. It is a 1/8"x1" plate that sits on the chassis with a small groove cut in the end to clear the chassis lip. Then the servo mounts bolt to this plate. The plate uses the existing radio tray holes for mounting and the entire thing can be removed for servicing by removing two screws. I use 15K in the center because I need more diff action for the tight technical track I run at, it works great. I really need rear brake bias at my track to get 100% rotation around the numerous tight turns.
