Winter Project's "Post Em Here" - 12.24.2008, 01:56 PM

Ok decided to make a thread dedicated to winter projects for 08-09. What we would like is a description of your project, its purpose and build pics of course.
Ill start first...

1/5 MCD Plow Project.

Made just for the hell of it basically. Hoping to make shoveling a little easier.

6x6 1.9 tire scale project. Going to have a wrecker type bed that will have servo actuated tilt and slide function. Waiting on the chassis from Reign, and some tlt axles. Have a pede tranny, motor, and a dx5e radio to control everything. Also need to build a scale 1.9 truck to park on the back of it. Most likely get a semi cab for this, or maybe use a high lift or blackfoot cab...

I got 5 I'd like to do this year, not sure which i'd start with. 3 i have here and just need parts, one i have half the parts and the other is a new truck.

1. restore my G2R revo conversion, its been beat to hell in the last three years (officially on dec 20th) and its one of the first, if not the first Gorilla conversions ordered and shipped by Mike. My plan is to get a motor that is better at 4s lipo (lighter weight) since most here use the Y wind, I'll play with the Delta winds.
2. fix up my twinforce, broke a c-hub off the axlehousing, as soon as i find a piece I'll get it back together. Thinking of a different power combo for it as well, the 2250 is really too much for it
3. convert my 8T, been wanting to do this for a while. Thinking about using the 1515/2.5d in my revo right now on 4s with tall gearing, I'm pretty sure it can handle the gear, only going for 35-40 mph
4. I want two of the X-factory X-60 mid motor chassis conversionsfor the T4, One for my racer (2s lipoed mamba 4600) and the other for my e-GT 5s Beast
5. I'd like to get a summit and run my 2250 on it, but the others are cheaper to do right now

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Are you referring to Reign R/C, the guys that make crawler chassis? If so, small world. Those guys are locals here. Kaetwo is my friend's cousin. They do killer work. You won't be disappointed. I guess my point is neither here nor there. It's just cool to see guys you know in one world associating with guys you know from another world. ..... uh, yeah.

Winter project: I'm buying a 1988 Toyota Celica AllTrac Turbo IMSA GTO Champion edition (only 79 made). I've wanted one forever ... or about 20 years, whichever seems longer. Finally found one in decent shape (not riced out, rusted out, etc) for only $3k, so I'm jumping on it. Should be loads of fun in the snow around here.

Winter R/C project: Thin down the collection. Possibly sell my AX-10 and pick up either the Venom Kreeper or the new Losi 2.2 crawler just for a change of scenery.

Word.

Well, I got my Blizzard running the other day. I had to steal one of the Sidewinders from the Berg 2.2 (NBD since I have nowhere to crawl right now anyways), and mount up the batteries.

I also did a little modding to the tracks:

Take this---

Subtract this---

You end up with this!

And now you don't slide down the side of an snowy/icy hill and flip over every time!!!!!

Sweet, it is a small world, huh?!

I have a k2-5 chassis and i really like it. I am just getting into 1.9 trucks, and should have about 3 trucks worth of parts here soon. I think it will be fun!

Please let us know how that works out for you. They do slide sideways pretty quick on ice!

I guess my new Blizzard is a winter project of sorts also. Every time I take it out, I end up with some sort of problem to work out. No broken parts or anything, just issues like the cab coming off (finally fixed I hope). chains or tracks coming off, or the never-ending brake adjustments. I put 120K diff lock in the diff yesterday and that seems to have helped. I'm also modifying things to keep it as dry as possible inside. I need to get a new 3s battery that will fit in the body. My FP packs are too long and make the body not fit properly.

Yee-haw!

The new tracks work pretty well. I managed to get a run in before the rain started yesterday. Much less sliding. I'm running 8 cells NiMH in mine with the HH Crawlmaster. It's a little slow with the 1000kV outrunner so I might have to get a 3s pack. I have a CRT.5 body that I'm gonna put on it once I get some posts. It's the perfect size. Consequently, I found that body to be the perfect size for my Berg 2.2, and the little F103GT EDF car that I have. All three require different trimming so I need to get a couple more bodies.
