Early Christmas present!

For some reason my parents gave me my christmas presents early, most likely because we are going to be on the road for christmas.. Anyways, I got a 2240 14t and a 36120!! :Love: This is going to go in my Savage with 10s Lipoly. Do you think at 1057 KV the controller will handle the 42 volts nominal, and the high RPM? I don't want to mess up my new power system :)

Umm... wow! Thats quite a gift I should say. Yes the controller should be able to handle that, but I would wait to hear from somebody else.

If I got an Mtroniks Truck i'd be amazed and probably shovel the driveway for free for a year.

It's 37 volts nominal (2x18.5) and a 39000 max rpm which is pretty spot on.This is within the specs of the controller so it's made to handle it.Run a pair of these if you're man enough;)

That eyeball-popping face doesn't do this amount of power any justice! But, I think a more realistic figure would be the burst power of 3600watts! That's twice more than needed! There's no way that the front end of any Savage will stay down with so much power! I can't even stand to think of what will happen to the gears...

I'll be running 8 gear spyder UE diffs with hybrid bulks and HD CVD's, so I *hope* this thing will handle it! :eek: If anything I can run on 5s lipoly, which would still be a ton of power!

MetalMan,is this because this motor won't be pulling the the full 111A at these high voltages?

I was wondering whether to get the 99A peak(66 continuous) packs for my 8s 1950/10 setup to save a little space and weight,maybe all the power the motor will pull anyway(still 2900W available in theory).

Do you think a 64 amp burst rating on my lipolies be good enough? And what about the RPM limit on the controller, at nominal voltage, it goes over 42,000 RPM's..

I calculated it using 3.2v/cell at 111amps, since there is no way that the cells can put out any higher. So, 3.2v/cell x 111amps x 5cells = 1776watts x 2packs = 3553watts.
I have read that these ARE the same cells as the Polyquest XPs, and that they are better rated as 16C cont. and 22C burst, mainly because of how hot the cells will get. The fact is is that the cells won't put out 111amps without warming up first, and I highly doubt that the motor will pull 111amps except in occasional spikes because the voltage is so high. How many watts is the 2240 rated at anyways?

64amps cont. is way more than enough. You could probably get away with 30amps cont.! IMO, the cells you choose should be determined by the runtime that you want.
10s Lipo fully charged is 42.0v, but that will definitely drop to under 40v before the motor can reach full throttle. At 40v, that motor would spin at about 42300RPMs, but the only possible way that could happen is if the wheels were off the ground and you accelerate very slowly. Are you sure that the controller you have is the one with the RPM limit?

When you say because they get "hot", does that mean that I'll need to cool the cells, or does it just mean that they supply better power at higher temps?

The 2240's rated at 90A,2250watts.

I got my 36120 today too,Mike said the 36 cell controllers have the 42K limit apart from the 3690.Is it because of the frequency that they have the lower limit and would using the programming cable determine this?
