Question SAVAGE good or bad? - 12.14.2005, 08:25 PM

I was thinking about another truck. I was looking at some savages. I want to know what your opinions are of the savage. I was thinking a 3 speed tranny with brushless power. I want a great all around basher. I like to know if the trucks are tough. What would have to upgrade on the trucks to? Thanks.

Peace!

not breaking nothing is good. I don't really want to go gas. I was looking at maybe a 4.6 kit and run nitro again. :D I see it has 2.9hp. I was wondering if it may be good to leave it nitro for a while.

I would have to buy some stuff to get the nitro up and going. I have a brushless setup just sitting around collecting dust at this moment.
I wonder what is wrong with me to some time. :D

You say that the savage is a tough duraible truck mack. I may see about getting one. I can sell off the new motor for some money. :D

I would definately say the Savage is a great basher. Very heavy but very durrable. Probably the only thing that I don't like about my Savage is the double sided chassis setup. Not very user friendly in my opinion. Say, versus a T-Maxx chassis where everything sits on top and is easy to access, everything is sandwiched together in the middle on the Savage.
I have the RB TM728 in mine and that seems to move it around OK. Torque O'plenty.

Savage = Good :). Now i know what the a maxx is like I wish i kept my savage. The Savage is real tough. heres some bashing vids with savage's http://www.highoctanehobbies.com/videos/ the better ones are near the end of the list. Engine tuning is that bad, just follow the instructions, always worked for me. The 3 speed is supposed to be really good.

The savage is a really durable truck. I converted it to brushless and it is holding up well. I did the 4spider mod in front and rear, bought the GPM diffhousings, the double disk brake, hotbodies front and rear CVDs and HD front and rear cups. All the other things are stock. So I am still driving with the stock dogbones. They are holding up pretty good after 10 runs with the 7XL.

For bashing is it a really nice truck. But look out for the high jumps. Because the truck is kind of heavy with 16 cells. I weighted my truck with 12 cells and that was 5,5kg so with 16 cells I think 6kg.

And there are lots of hop-up parts. So you can all the things buy what you want.

3speed is useless with BL.. the 2 speed is more than enough allready.. drop an 11XL on 20 cells in it.. It will be the ride of your life..

I gave a few tips and advised hopups in other threads allready, which i would really get..

Serum, why would the 3 speed be useless with BL? Lets say a 11xl on 20 cells? wouldnt it increase topspeed and acceleration?

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL
