Good old family fun. - 02.16.2009, 09:44 PM

Well the boys and I spent some time in the R/C shop this weekend, and both of them have completed their stock EMaxx builds. It was a bit overwhelming for them at first never having done anything like that, but once they got started putting them together they could not get enough. Finally on Sunday Jeremy 13 finished his and was ready for some in shop testing. After a few adjustments and some tweeking he was ready to go out on Monday. This pushed Tommy 12 to get his finished up Monday morning (sibbling rivalry/compitition) so they could go out together.

I have like ten sets of NM battery packs so they were having none stop fun bashing together. My wife took some video and I will post that up later today once I get it loaded up on photobucket. I have only allowed them to use 6 cell packs so far. I want them to learn a bit first before stepping up to the 7 cell packs. Now they are stoked for upgrades and some serious learning about brushless power. 2009 is going to be a very busy year at The HIll House I can see it now. Plus now my wife and our 10 year old daughter want to build their own trucks as well, so they can get in on the fun. We will probably build something like the old "PinkVo" (Revo) that was done in here last year for our daughter.

I will get some photos and video up shortly. Thanks to all of the guys who donated old EMaxx parts for their projects, as it was a great success for us. We still have enough parts to just about complete another Maxx stocker, so I will be placing an order to get whatever is missing next week. You guys are great for lending a hand. I am truly grateful for your support Gee/Pedeboi/Markus. and you to Harold. Thank you for a wonderful weekend due to your generosity.

SINCERELY THE HILL FAMILY IN SEOUL, KOREA.

JERRY,that sounds great!...i have two boys(9and 5)...i let my 5 year old try out my new BL rc8t...he loved it and did a surprisingly good job driving...now my boys are fighting over a dx3r radio like it is just a normal toy...GOOD TIMES!

we have a great time with the electric trucks!...my 9 year old has a nitro Tmaxx collecting major dust now...it too much of a pain keeping the nitro tuned and running propperly...they are spoiled with the killer BL trucks I(we) have...we just sit in the yard and run for hours...they just run and run and run...NITRO SUCKS!!

It's pretty cool that your whole family wants in on the R/C addiction! Just remember to pay the mortgage and buy food first...

Actually I have not found that shop just yet. What a meant was that we worked in our personal R/C workshop here at the Hill House. After you shared with me about the pricing I have not bothered looking out in the Seoul Community. I have been doing 90% of my shopping on line since I started into this 3 years ago anyway, so why change now? We have built up a pretty good stock of the usual things like bearings, screws, and basic Maxx stuff so we are good. Plus we had the help of a few guys in here who generously donated some of their old stock Maxx parts to help us along. I am sure that we will have more photos and video in the comming weeks to share. The boys were out again this evening, but I took the wife to see a movie "The day the Earth stood still". Pretty good movie by the way.

Oh ok. Supposedly the shop is not that far from the train station and its pretty good. A couple of guys hear take that trip to buy parts instead of coming here. I gotta get some minutes for my phone so you could call me or vice versa.

Thank you Harold. This week has been a lot of fun for all of us. The boys are totally stoked ad learning more and more each day. They were out again today and ran two sets of batteries each so they are getting good. I will have to break down and get them some new battery packs, as my old stuff is begining to leak and just fall apart. They are like 3 years old now. I am not ready to turn them loose with Lipo's just yet. Too much money for pre-teens.

Jerry, That is priceless time w/your family. I am introducing this hobby to my little girl...10. She loves it when we go out together and run. I was having trouble keeping 2 reliable cars going...so I bought 2 crt.5 and since then, no probs. I am slowly teaching her about how the truck ticks. The first time she plugged a li-po in and she saw the spark, she jumped. Once I told her that happens every time, she was good to go!

It is nice to see our children enjoying our obsession w/us and spending time together is just priceless.

Very nice Jerry. Sorry the parts did not make it in time, but they will be good for breakage.

I like the "pin board" as opposed to a "peg board". Keep us posted.

That looks like a lot of quality fun! I wish I had a brother and a dad interested in R/C when I started. All I had was my cousin (Cultech for anyone wondering) but he lived an hour away.

Anyway, what exactly happened with you kid's steering? Bellcrank come loose?

Did you know?
