Need help finding a strange sized outrunner motor. - 03.07.2009, 02:38 PM

Hey guys, I have a exceed-rc 1/10 buggy that I want to go DD with. It is about the size of a .5 with the ofna ext chassis. Here is the spec of the outrunner I need: 1000-1300kv, 45mm diameter max, 45-48mm long including shaft, need shaft exiting both sides of the motor, need 5mm shaft. Any bolt pattern is fine. Let me know what you come up with! Thanks!!!

That motor doesn't even meet your specs... It will be hard finding a motor to fit those specs without re-winding it.

See if this link works. Look at the motors on this page - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...9&v=&sortlist=

How does it not meet my specs? I can cut the shaft down, I only need ~6mm of shaft on either side. With 12mm of exiting shaft factored in, length comes in right at 48mm. :)

Well I guess it does. It was a differnt motor before you changed it... I though you were looking for a motor over 40mm in diameter. If you want a 36mm motor you are in luck.

I said I needed under 45mm. Any size under that will do. How do you think that motor will do power wise?

That motor you picked out is a little weak. It only pushes out 322 watts at rated peak power. One guy said he got 462 watts, so the motor might be underrated or that guy was really pushing it.

This is what I have - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._35-48_1100Kv_

It's good for 3-4s lipo with the stock tires and I'm going to start testing it with some proline gladiators soon. I would recommend a 1000kv outrunner if you want to run 4s though. I'm guessing my motor won't like the gladiators on 4s...

Crap. I'll look at the scorpion & axi lines and see if they have anything.

Scorpion has exactly what I need.

Turns out the car has 13/38 diffs, so I need a lower KV motor than I thought. On a fully charged 3s pack, with that motor the car will go ~43mph. With 11.1v, the car will go ~37mph. Good enough for me!

Do you have any pics of your car? What is the diameter of your tires?

That motor looks really nice. It should make it fly.

Well, the car needs some front end parts before it is a roller. Tires are 2.2 dirt hawgs. They are 4" in diameter.
