Well now that my e-maxx is running I am in love with brushless power. I was wondering of any large scale on road or rally cars that could be picked up and converted. I have a ton of 1/10 stuff, and just want something bigger. On another note does anyone know how dependable the drivetrain of the old mrc thunder king is. I was thinking that would be a pretty good brushless candidate too.

Hi Junkman, I don't know this thunder tiger, but a converted 1/8 onroad RC would be awesome. One of those Mugens or Serpents. The drivetrain would be BL proof. Would be a nice challenge, too. Those nitros are wicked fast already, can't imagine what they would be like on BL.

The nitros have 2 speeds, and plenty of room for batteries.

There's the Kyosho(i think) which is based on the buggy,so shaft drive centre diff etc.I'd go for one that runs belt drive along the side(3 belt) though,like most of them do,because it looks like it would leave good space right in the centre of the car for plenty of Lipo cells;)

This looks a bit strange for a touring car out of a monster truck, but creative idea I guess.

For me, I would finde some way to build it up in my own way through drawing some designs and send it to someone who would cnc it out of aluminum.

i looked at the ofna ultra gt for doing this its based of the mbx ultra buggy but i could only find new rtr ones so i passed on it there is also the hpi super nitro its no longer made buy www.sheldonhobbies.com has them for 199 with a .15 engine it a belt drive 4wd on road

Junkman, go for the HPI super10 touring car and you can easily fill it up with batteries. Use a decent motor like a lehner XL BASIC or Lehner 1930 motor. This thing is closer to a 1/8th scale rig in term of size than it is to a 1/10th scale.

How about an OFNA Hyper One Seven? It's 1/7th scale (as you prolly guessed lol), and is based on the mechanics of the Hyper buggies. That would make an awesome BL candidate. :D

I was really considering the super nitro, I have found that they actually made a super electric but I don't think we ever got it in the states. The super nitro may be my best bet. The ofna ultra gt looks like a good candidate as well, but the bodies for some reason all look kind of cartoonish, to short or something. I think I may pick up a super nitro. The 1/7 car looks sweet, but I think the pricetag may be a bit more than I can chew.

Oboy, a 30 series and fill it up with lipos.....better make sure its got spoiler on it and you'll need a long road or a runway to boot.:cool:

The "Super RS4" as it was called WAS sold in the states, just wasn't very popular and they just disappeared. My brother has one, a friend had one, and a hobby shop down by my grandma's house still has a mint one that's never been run.

I think its a plain silly idea. A 30 series has a 10mm shaft and it puts out at least 7000 watts at 40-60 volts. It pushed a 1/5 boat to 116 mph( dual motors were used: 3080, 10000 watts). Also its a heavy motor in its own. It weighs almost 2 kilos. Now, is it really exciting?!! I feel just sick when I think about it.
