I'm sorry for your loss....LIPO TIME!!??? Seems like the wall of the battery tray was keeping the pressure in for a while! That's why it popped so loud, I would guess...

PS: Was it really necessary to circle the damaged cell in the picture?

Nothing against nimh, but my limited experience with them was not good. I had just about every problem you can have with nimhs. I was not using the best cells, but they could barely get a rustler moving, with a MM, 5000kv feigao s can and 8 cells. Gearing was not far off stock, and the nimhs were about to liquefy they were so hot... Not to say I have not have lipo issues, but those went away after I sold most of the maxamps packs i had, go figure

nimh and truggy should never be used together....

you need a good quality lipo to handle a truggy.

I got to agree with rootar, I blew a cell with a HV 4400 in my G2R. started to research Lipo's shortly after that

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I have blown my fair share of nimh. Lipo is so much better in so many ways. For one, you don't have as many cells to go bad.

hey What's_Nitro? looks like you're happy to hear me thinking about Lipo.....well, say if I'm using the MGM 16018(4 Battery Wires/6 Motor Wires Version)with a Tekno ED 1515 1Y/F and I want one, maybe two packs of HARDCASE LIPO(5000mAh or higher!!!)what's your suggestion??? inside measurement of my RCM BATTERY TRAY is 48mm by 199mm
what about Losi 18.5V 4000mAh 5S 25C LiPo: 1/8 Vehicles or Losi 14.8V 5000mAh 4S 25C LiPo Hard Case or Reedy Pro 5000mAh 7.4V LiPo Battery w/12 Awg - 703 or Reedy LiPo 5000Mah 7.4V 35C LiPo Battery - 709

Yes, I am very happy to hear that. NiMH are heavy, and underpowered for BL- as you know.

Well, if you want to go with a hardcase lipo then I suppose the Losi 4s would be OK. IMO the wires look a bit too small (14AWG?). There's also this PolyQuest XP 4s pack. I don't know who makes the cells for Losi, but the cells in PolyQuest/Neu/Flightpower lipos are the best quality cells out there. The wires appear to be larger (12AWG?) and that is a big deal with 1/8 BL power systems that can draw lots of current.

wait a couple weeks to purchase your lipos, i heard from a bird that mike will have a nice variety of 3,4,and 5s hardcase packs to choose from, and the cells they use in his will rival the best made.....his packs are strong.

ok, i guess i'll just wait and see what's up...oh, btw, i took almost everything apart for cleaning since those battery juice covered almost HALF of the XT8and i just finished cleaning and everything back together without ESC and Battery...

Seen that happen plenty of times before, but never with an MGM ESC (I was able to run 18 cells in my E-Revo with my MGM 16018, it just cut the power waay back to reduce the strain on the NiMHs). BL + NiMH = disaster. Powering a BL system with NiMH cells is like putting a scooter engine in a Hummer. Get those PolyQuest lipos and as long as you treat them right (basically don't do anything stupid) and your battery problems should go away and you'll notice a big increase in power.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.
