Possiable Brushless Interference Problems? - 03.29.2009, 01:21 PM

hiya,

right ok, so i have got my replacement Novak hv 6.5 and decided to put it in my old revo instead of the 1/8 buggy.

and it seems as tho the spektrum failfail kicks in every so often.

this is just 1 of the problems that i had with my old 1 that blew up.

now i have tryed reciever and still get the same, i have tryed moving the reciever around the truck and it still happends.

and the only thing i havent ruled out is the novak speedo.

does anyone have any sugestions? or am i betetr off cutting my costs and go back to nitro?

any help would be greatful indeed.

Most likely the bec dropping voltage to the rx...

You could try a cap in rx or external bec...

You cant go back to nitro, its illegal once you've gone BL.

I rarely get issues with my FM radio, so I doubt its the rx causing issues unless its faulty. Are you sure its not the esc itself causing issues (is this an old or new hvmaxx with adjustable lvc settings?) Could it be the batteries causing issues, or outside interference from somewhere like powerlines etc?

Going back to nitro just because of a glitch issue is a bit extreme to say the least...

i think i have a new hvmax or atleast its new to me...also what does lvc stand for?

this is just tinkering around outside my house at the moment to see if it works before i go to a track pay money to race and not race.

my nitro stuff works fine outside my house so i know i shoudlnt have any problems there.

reason i say go back to nitro is because this is the 1st brushless exprience and i have had nothing but problems.

the last novak caught fire and killed a transponder and reciever :-(

as for runign an external bec or cap...can you please dumb it down for me or give me some examples, i dont know much abotu electronice :-(

I have samekind of problems... I use MMM+Medusa and Sanwa 2,4Ghz radios.
Radio goes in failsafe after ~100 meters.

Try re-binding it.

The hvmaxx is a good starter or intro into the world of BL setups, but they dont do justice to just how awesome, fast and powerful a decent BL conversion can be, not even close.

Cant help too much with radio issues saddly, but the hvmaxx would be the latest model if it had black heatsinks. If its purple, it would be an older model- does the motor have a 3.2mm or 5mm shaft? if its the smaller size, its an even older model. LVC stands for Low Voltage Cutoff, and is essential for use with lipo batteries to prevent them from over discharging. Im guessing you use nimhs- again, they dont do jutice to a BL system, it really needs lipos to show off its potential.

ok then, it is the new hv max as it has the black heat sinks and the lvc (now i now what it stands for :-)) andi am using lipo's..and i am also new to lipos as well.

it is also the 5mm shaft so its definatly the enw system

Thats alright then. I would say if you use the same radio/ type of radio in your nitro models and it doesnt have issues, its probably the lvc cutting in occasionally which is causing you issues. Try running it with the lvc turned off, and see how it does- buy a cheap voltage checker that plugs into the lipo's balance taps to keep an eye on the cell voltages manually during the run.

Braiding the motor wires together should help reduce any glitching issues, and wrapping the rx leads in tin foil is another trick too, but you really shouldnt have any issues with a 2.4g radio.
