Single Speed Conversion

This question is for any one who might be able to give me an answer. can the single speed conversion be used for first gear instead of second? Before i get flamed i should tell you that I'm turning my emaxx into a crawler but need to shed weight.

No, it is not possible, the distance between the idler /input gear/output gear needs to be different.

Plus on the input shaft 2nd gear is closest to the spur gear, 1st gear is farthest away.

can't the gears be slid to the positions on the shaft to the second gear spot?

Your idler shaft will be in the wrong spot. Could you drop your spur and pinion gears low enough to do the same ratio?

I'm just wondering about the gear ratio in the transmission because I know I can lower with the spur and pinion but wouldn't that be counter active to using the high gear in the tranny, I was just wondering how low you can gear on the spur and pinion, how tall a spur and how small a pinion can you get?

I 've been thinking about it, and I think I might keep both gears after all just in case in some crawling situations where you need more wheel speed and less torque

Torque won't be a problem, because I plan on using twin 65 T Lathe motors run off of the stock EVX but rewired for 7.2 Volts, instead of the 14.4v
