Brushless/lipo advice needed. - 03.26.2009, 09:50 PM

Im planning on building a RCM converted RC8TFT to race this season. but im very out of the loop on electronics.

Ive done some research the last couple weeks on mate'n up brushless motor Kv, battery voltage and gearing to balance the system for high performance but also keep batter/esc/motor temps in line for a trouble free system. However i know my knoweldge is incomplete at best and flawed at worst given the number of sources ive checked. Hopefully you all can keep me going in the right direction.

As of now im look'n at a Tekin RX8 2000kv truggy combo with neuenergy 5s 5000mah lipo's gearing around 40mph(local track isnt overly large, 40mph should be more than enough)

Im hung up on where the happy meduim is on gearing and motor RPM and how thats going to relate to battery temps and motor temps. From the handy gearing calc on this site it looks like im on the right track with a 2000kv motor on 5s, but im not sure.

I really want a nice easy plug and play truggy as work didnt allow to me race all last season and im hope'n take'n all the nitro maintence out of the picture should make it easier for me to race.

Thanks in advance
