Another ST-RR Conversion - 12.23.2008, 02:27 AM

Whats up guys. Heres my ST-R converted to ST-RR (except for shocks =/ )
Anyways its a slower build considering I've got some other expensive hobbies.

Anyways so far heres the specs

RC Monster Motor Mount
Airtronics 94358 For steering
Spektrum RX

Mamba Monster with 2200kv combo. Just ordered it today.

Couple of questions I have for you guys. It will before racing, probably should have gone for the 2650kv but oh well.

What battery to you recommend? I'll be racing at Revelation in Southern California which consists of 2 ten min qualifiers and a 15 min main.

Do I have to run a 6 cell or can I run a 4 cell? I was thinking of getting 1 5000mah 4 cell and then 8000mah for the main ( 4 or 6 cell? )

I want to keep my RX safe, I've heard of people using revo boxes. Any alternatives?

I just completed mine. I'm using a 5000mah 5S with the 1515 1Y. Any enerland based packs will be great for your setup.

I'll be using e-revo rx box (ordered mine last week).

Got the Mamba in the mail today. I need to figure out a mount for the ESC.

Stupid questions but how do you know which hole to plug the wires into. There are no markings or color codes. Instructions did not say either...

I made my ESC mount using a piece of 3mm aluminum. It's screwed in 3 places and plenty strong. It also helps in keeping the weight centered.

the motor wires do not matter , if the motor spins the wrong way , swap two of the motor leads

Oh ok cool.

Thanks for you help guys. I'll be ordering a battery tray this week so more updates with come.

Edit: Do you guys loctite the motor mount screws? ( the ones that clamp the motor in ) When I installed the motor I notices there are no room for a washer of any sort.

If you read the last statement on post number 3 in my thread thanking Shaun for the package he sent to me, I stated that I used the SUT ESC mount as a template. You used a different type of metal while I used a piece of 3mm aluminum for added rigidity. Thanks for the design.

Side by side with my ST-RR.

I made a smaller/narrower ESC mount for my ST-RR using the ESC mount of the SUT as a template.

Whats up guys. Finally got this running about 2 months back but the ESC dnf'd on it's second battery out. Super fast though. Got the ESC back a couple weeks ago and finally got some time to take it out to Revelation today. Ran great EXCEPT...

I went through 1 set of front bevel gears. First the pinion went (smaller gear) and then the ring went (larger gear). Replaced both of them and after another run I could start to hear the teeth slipping again. Took it off the truck to avoid further damage. Took the front diff out for the 3rd time today. Looks ok and still usable... BUT what the heck is going on? I moved one shim on the diff over ( 3 on 1 side now and 1 on the other ) to the ringer gear side hoping it would create closer mesh with the smaller pinion gear but I have not ran the car yet with this setup. Anyone have this problem or advice

Thanks!!
