30 Minute Main?

I have Truggy XT8 With MMM 2200KV combo geared to 42mph on tight track 5000mah battery is barely enough for 15min Truggy weight is ~4410g with Zippy-H 4S1p battery, so if you have heavy finger it can be not enough for 15min pit stop.
Second setup what I built is Xray XB808 with MMM 2650KV combo. Car was geared to 38-40Mph same tight track experinced driver not heavy finger. Weight was 3400g with 4900mah 4S1P Rhino battery. With easy do 15min pit stop.
Hevy finger makes Huge Difference. With 10min of driving with nitro stile my truggy can consume 4200mah. With restrained style finger like in on-road truggy consume 3100mah.

Great info - thanks! Does anyone else have any comparisons? I just bought the new XB808 and want to make sure I get two batteries that will make a 30 minute main and still fit under the body.

Hey Rob,
I run: XB808 - 1512/3D or 1512/1.5Y on 5s 4300 packs geared for 38-40mph. I easily get 15+ minute from that setup. No issues at all. Even with a conservative LVC setting I can probably get close to 20 based on the mah/minute usage I see. I never see usage more than 210-215mah/minute with either of those motors even on the big tracks. On a small track it drops to just under 200mah/minute in some cases.

I highly recommend the 5s racing setup. It just works better than 4s for me. Everything runs cooler and even with the low KV motors it still has plenty of power. With this setup and a pack swap at the 15-18 minute mark you would have no issues at all making 30 minutes.

Nice - thanks. So, what are the packs you're using and what are the dims on them? Especially the height. That's been my big question. I don't want to get a pack that's too tall to fit the body on

Using a mix of NeuEnergy 4300 5s, Ployquest 4350 5s, Flightpower 4350 5s, and PloyRC 4350 5s.

All of them seem to be good. All built with the same base cells I believe. Pack size is about 165 x 46 x 39. Some minor varience in the thickness (39mm dimension) from brand to brand but all pretty close. I have a couple mm of spacers under my front body post for a little extra height in clearing the packs but it works just fine. Can even fit the slightly thicker 5s 5000mah pack under the body now.

I see. That sounds good to me - I think I'll check into the 5s in that capacity. I know the Neu's are selling for about $165 each right now in the V5. Too bad I missed the sweet deals they had going for a while on the V1's at about $110 each.

Amain has a 5s 3300 for $130 or so but that capacity is just too small.

I grabbed 3 of those a few weeks back. To good of a deal to pass up. Gonna be my primary buggy race packs this year. Grabbed the last 5s 3900 they had too. I'll use that for qualifier heats. The packs from last year will be relegated to practice, warm up and bashing packs even though they are still plenty good to use as race packs.

Nice - that was a sweet deal. I'm pretty stoked about the V5's I just picked up though. Not sure why they're so cheap in the 4300's but I'm not arguing. Heck, the V5 4100's in the 5s are $199. So I get 200mah more for $35 less

To me, jhautz has a great combo for getting there. We do not run 30 minutes at my local tracks so I have not done it my self but I have some input. My race set-up is an MBX6 with a Neu 1512-3DF, MMM(17.5 cut-off) & 5S 3850mAh (Thunder Power). Geared 17/46 my car will run over 20 min every time on medium & smaller tracks. My motor is always about 130 deg after that time & the fan on my MMM never turns on if the air temp is below 75 deg. On loose tracks my run time does drop a few minutes.

Yea, I was wondering about the V5s. I get that its an advantage to charge them faster, but really, the power supply I take with me to the track can only deliver enough power to change tham a little over 1C anyway so the faster charge really doesnt mean that much to me. But like you said, bigger pack.... Less money. How can you go wrong.

I think you will be happy with the Neu packs. the ones I have seem to be very well built and nice quality cells. They stay balanced very well. Of course I rarly ever run them all the way to cut off so that helps any battery stay balanced.

What motor did you decised on? I think I am going to try the complete Tekin setup when its released. Trying to decide between the 1700 and the 1900 buggy setup. Probably go with the 1900 because its a Y wind and will be a little more responsive to timing changes if I want to do any fine tuning with the timing.

Yeah, I've been really happy with my Neu packs in the past. Not totally sure what motor to get yet. I'm thinking a 1700kv but not sure if I'll go Neu, Medusa, or Tekin.
