Monster Help! - 04.03.2009, 08:19 PM

Ok, i plugged my Monster in and what do u know, it arms fine but the cooling fan responds as though it the motor, it works in sink with the throttle, it also speeds up and slows when i do the trim and of course the actual motor doesn't do anything. I'm baffled

Crappy. I've had castle call my LHS and authorize an in store trade, gave them my fried MM and they gave me a brand new off the shelf one and sent the fried unit back to castle for me. IF it's that important you race tomorrow, you may be able to call CC and get a similar arrangement?

The sad thing is that my lhs mostly tends to nitro.

I'm beginning to think 1/8th electric isn't for me, if i can't hurry up and get something that works, i may go back to nitro.

2 things to try fixing that.....

First. Set the LVC back to "auto" At one point there was a software glitch that made the esc respond like that with the fan when the lVC was set to a custom setting.

Second. plug it in to the castle ling and update the firmware on the MMM to make sure you have the latest and greatest.

I'm betting this problem is a simple software update that is required.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Silent...But Deadly

I did those 2 things and it just refuses to work properly, the motor responds now and i have a green led, but the motor won't spin, it just chirps and makes clicking noises when i give it throttle. I know it isn't the motor because i tested it with a spare motor and got the same results.

Maybe do a fact reset and try again. Maybe hook up a crappy test motor just in case something is wrong and you don't frag your motor too.

I hooked to castle link and it said it was in brushless mode and set it to factory default and it still didn't work.

Are you running the latest firmware update for it?

Very bizarre issue...

See if you can downgrade the software to a different version and see if that works. You may also want to download a new copy of the newest software because your build could be corrupt.

I updated my software and firmware BEFORE it started the chirping and clicking. I'm starting to get used to bizarre issues.
