Please help!! - 04.06.2009, 03:45 PM

I have a full FLM Extended Stampede that I've been working on for way too long. I have a Medusa 3300V2 motor that I'd like to put in it. So anyway I recently ordered the following and they do not fit.

Is it because the pinion is 32p or .8 Mod? I searched through the threads for a few days before ordering and still screwed it up. I was going to order a 40T Revo spur to go with it. Should this be the one that I should order--> http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...=5mmmod1pinion

Also, because the truck is extended and strengthened, and I have a set of 14mm adapters I thought I would put some 14mm wheels on it. What do you guys think about these?

Will the truck handle like garbage with wheels that large? Should I forget the idea and just go with standard 2.8 wheels?

If you have a newer xl5 style slipper (looks like the revo slipper) you can run the jato 32p/.8 mod spurs with the pinions you ordered. The revo slipper will not fit on a rustler tranny.

Not sure on the large wheels and tires, more load=more breakage.

Go with standard wheel over maxx - Personally even the 2.8 tallon's used to give me lots of breakages - I'd go for 17mm adapters and buggy wheels personally.

Linc - Thanks for the help. So the Revo slipper will not fit the FLM tranny either? I was trying to beef things up to handle the brushless motor. If you were to put this all together what would you buy?

Arkt1k - Thanks for the advice. I like the thought of the buggy wheels. I'll have to buy one of those 17mm adapter kits. Have any recommendations on which one?

I would go with the last link, the FLM adaptors. High quality stuff there.

FLM has the lifetime warranty and you can buy from Mike rc-monster.com :)

The location of the pin on the rustler input shaft requires the jato/rustler version of the revo spec slipper clutch. The flm tranny and the plastic case traxxas part use the identical input shaft, and thus require the identical slipper setup. The flm case with vxl internals would be my choice, cost effective and strong.

I checked last night and now see what you are talking about. I really thought I had read that the revo would fit, but it must have been a jato/rustler version described as the revo spec slipper clutch. It's too bad, cause that Revo slipper clutch/spur looks awesome on the FLM case. Anyway, thanks again for the help. I think I'm on track now.

By the way, those A123's that you sent me a while back are working great and for some reason seem to charge faster and have more power than a comparable A123 racing pack that I have.

The xl5 slipper looks almost identical to the revo slipper... If you are using a really old rustler as a base, you may have the old peg style slipper and the input shaft is different. If it has a hex shaped shaft it is the old style.

Good to hear that the a123 packs are working well. I think I made those out of a dewalt pack, been a while so I do not remember...

I have the newer style xl5 slipper clutch and spur. I was just trying to beef things up a bit. I think I'm going to go with the Jato set as you suggested. After search for 32p, I found what I needed, mainly through all of your posts. I hope you stick around for a while. You're a wealth of info.

I know a few things... Learned it all from this forum, and messing stuff up myself! The jato slipper is identical to the xl5 slipper, and the jato spurs will bolt on directly. You will not be able to run the std rustler gear cover, but with 32p gears it is not really necessary. I ran in sand and dirt and never had an issue with the 32p setup. Plus you will never strip a spur out like the 48p does. I wish traxxas would bring out some direct replacement 32p spurs for the rusty and pedes, in the top hat style that will fit under the gear cover.
