need some spur gear advice on 8ight-t - 04.30.2009, 04:26 PM

hey, im a newbie at the 1/8 scale scene and need some help. i just got and converted my new 8ight-t... it looks so awsome i used losi's conversion kit with the plastic spur gear that it came with, but when i took it for a test drive the spur gear total blew after about 15 mins of runnin it. i was using a mmm 2200 combo 16/45. i think it might have been something did, but i was thinkin about gettin a metal spur but wasnt sure if that would make too much friction in the gears or cause some other problem. also the spur rubs the motor mount some and was wounderin what i could do stop that, especially with a metal spur. i know i have seen some guys runnin a metal spur and runnin a plastic spur, i just wanted to make sure i didnt miss anything. thanks in advance for any help you give me, its all greatly appreciated

Brian, first I would solve the problem of the spur rubbing on the mount (I probably can't help you much on that) then order 2-4 plastic spurs and when/if the the first spur strips go ahead and order that metal one. The remaning plastic ones should get you by until the metal one comes in.
