Motor mount for 36mm motors for Savvy? - 07.15.2009, 04:44 PM

Is there a cheap motor mount for the Savages that will fit std size motors? I thought Kershaw Designs had one for ~$25, but all I;m seeing is some $70 kit with his crappy batt trays.

I thought I saw an angle mount, sort of like this one @ OSE also, but I'm not finding it... any ideas?

Ideally I'm looking for something like the RCM Revo motor mount, yet matches the Savage nitro motor plate bolt pattern

KD still sells the motor mount only. It is under the motor mounts page, not the savage products page.

Well that would make too much sense now wouldn't it?
Thanks!

No... the Flux uses different TVPs comparedf to the nitro savage, so the ones sold by KD dont appear like they will fit unfortunately. Not sure what to suggest, but I dont really like the KD45 motors (they run too hot),- a neu 1515 or the stock flux tork motor should be plenty of motor to shift the flux though- even the medusa motors will fit the stock motor mount.

I made a l bracket mount a while back for a savage 21. You could fit a variety of pinions from 14t to 20t with the 47t spur. It was rock simple to make, just some 6061 angle and a few holes. I threaded the bottom to allow for adjustment the same w2ay the nitro engine adjusts. Sold it a few months ago, but there are some decent pics in my hv savage thread (tip: use the damn search button!!!).

Guessing you are going bl with the xl?

Yeppers, I've had it w/ the nitro. It has its own sort of fun, but its such a PITA. Its always something. More than anything I've developed a special hatred for clutchbells. I can do the tuning, been ok w/ glow plugs, pullstart spring wore thin, but I fixed it....

Just a pain when I want to take it somewhere, have 30 min to play, then spend 15min getting it started, warmed, tuned then to just have the CB bearings blow up and end the day.

So yeah, I'm going to take that Mega I got from you and run it on 8S. 28K rpms is nothing crazy tho. Its a big heavy slog and I got better trucks to make speed demons. I am thinking about making it four wheel steering as well, just not sure the str rods will clear the TVPs, but we'll see. I saw you make the tvps and how nice they came out w/ hand tools, and at worst I may do that. I want to make a big burly MT to run over stuff and really offroad in the weeds and such.

How did the angle mount come out? I want something like you describe, but seems like I'd have to order alu strong enough to make a strong mount, and prolly spend $20 anyway. I don't want any bent mounts and the trouble they cause.

I made my mount so that the motor was about one rch away from the bottom, that way it could not flex much. I beat the crap out of the truck and the mount never did bend.
