Help with Stampede Assembly

I received my FLM stampede ext chassis kit today and I've been working on putting it together, but have a couple of questions for those that have already done this.

What length front turnbuckles will I need with the new arms (they're the regular length, but still longer than stock)?

What is the center screw hole in the rear of the front bulkhead for? I can't find anything that bolts to it.

What are these things? http://onelouds10.com/flm_what.jpg They look like they bolt onto the rear A-Arms, correct? If so, do they go on the top or bottom?

Also, what shocks would y'all recommend for this? I've read that a lot of people use the Duratrax Evader shocks, but I want to see if anyone has experience with something else.

And last but not least...I have got to get a CNC tranny case ordered. This plastic case looks completely out of place on this kit.

That should be an awesome setup! Earlier in the week I ordered an aluminum tranny case and aluminum front arms for my Rustler, and I can't wait to get them!

That little piece goes under the rear arms, I think. They are just braces.

On my Rustler, I use Ofna Super Shocks on the rear, and they work very well. I did have to make a shock tower to get them to fit since they are so long, but I find them MUCH better than the Evader shocks I used to run. I even ran dual Evader shocks on the rear, and these Ofna shocks are way better!

metalman, would it be possible to use the ofna front shocks with the stock towers since the fronts are shorter?

I have all of the FLM parts for my rusty. I use the exteneded front arms. Those pieces are for the rear arms.

I use the Duratrax Evader shocks.

The FLM tranny case is AWESOME. I have to open it back up to but in the steel diff.

I wouldn't even try. I use Duratrax Overdrive ST shocks with soft springs (for the shocks) and 30wt oil for the front, and that works just fine. I think Ofna front 1/8 shocks on the front of a Rustler would be too stiff.

Yes. I really like the extended front arms. I was using RPM Losi modified arms. I want to convert my pede to all FLM parts including the extended chassis. :017:

Well, I ordered the CNC tranny and steel diff last night. I hope to have this thing done as a roller by this weekend.

sounds like you are going to have a very nice setup. one of my BL Rustlers is an FLM rustler. post some pics of the truck when you finish.

That looks exactly like my rustly. I even am running a lehner. The only thing I am missing is a aluminum top plate. The stock black looks silly on mine. Where did you get your plate? Did you just paint your body posts?

MaxxFusion - are you running a 5300? i am running a 5300 on 7cells.

the bar for the body posts is painted silver, the body posts in the front are aluminum - not sure where they came from though. the top plate is silver carbon fiber that i designed and cut.

i took it to the track around christmas time messed up my steering servo i think. i also damaged the wheels on the wheelie bar so they need to be replaced :005:

i decided since the M2k's sucked so bad on packed dirt i was going to go with a pin tire, but the 2.2 pins are all so small in diameter compared to the M2k's.
so i got some stampede-to-maxx adapters, some Proline maxx offset dish wheels, panther kamodo pin tires. the tires are about 1/8" taller so they are perfect because i will be able to keep the ride height.

I have the 4200 with the MGM 80 controller running 7 cells right now. I may go to 8. I have seem the aluminum posts around. I think RD carries them.

I like the CF top plate. You have any more of those? I hate the black pastic. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

I want my rusty to look like my gmaxx. All silver. :017:

What are the advantages of the rusty over the pede or pede over rusty? I have noticed they run alot of the same parts.

the rusty has lower batteries so it would have lower cg

And the 'Pede has more chassis-ground clearance, which is better for heavy bashing.

i myself would rather have a pede rather than a rusty because of the extra ground clearance
