Wiring problem - I'm confused...

Hi Guys,

My LST is almost done, but I never had so much wiring in my car so I'm a bit confused First of all the set-up of my LST:
- Brushless motor
- ESC
- BEC
- 5S LiPo
- 2 Steering servos
- Mechanical brake servo
- Receiver

I will set the brake amount on my Quark at 0%, but how can I brake mechanically by pushing the throttle stick backwards? (Like it normally should be)

I've got awesome painting skills so I drawed something



Could anybody answer my first question please? And I've got another question; does all things in my drawing are right?

Either a Y cable hooked to CH2, one goes to the ESC (with brake disabled), the other goes to the brake servo. Will take some fiddling with the EPA and linkages to get it right. Or, use channel mixing on your radio so that CH3 is activated at the same time as CH2 using the throttle trigger. This is better because CH3 settings (EPA, trims, reversing) will be totally adjustable without affecting the throttle going to the ESC.

The picture looks right, except you are missing the brake servo wires.

Your drawing is correct. Do you have a Y cable for the two steering servos? The mech. brake servo & ESC would also connect to CH2 of the Rx with a Y cable. Instead of just setting the brakes to 0%, set the ESC to forward only mode if you can (I'm not familiar with the Quarks).

There is a problem with the diagram and you guys missed it!!! He's using a BEC, he needs to pull the red wire going from the esc to the rx!

Hmm, I already got a Y cable for those 2 servo's. But I haven't got one for that brake-esc thingy. So I prefer the use of CH3, but I think it isn't possible because I've got a cheap 2.4GHz system. (Acoms Hayabusa) Does anybody know how this is called? (I can't find anything in the manual)
I also got a JR XS3 transmitter, that one is 75MHz but it got far more possibilities. Does somebody know if it's possible with the XS3? (And how?)

Oh, and another question; on CC website it says that the BEC should go in to CH2, but this is wrong right? It should be in "Batt".

It doesn't matter where the BEC is plugged in. The pic is just an example, and happens to show it plugged into CH2. I suppose if you were using high-current servos then you would want to plug it in the slot closest to the servos for the least resistance, but otherwise it doesn't matter.

I just found something in my XS3 manual: "Programmable mixing". I should be in this section, right?
The mixes avaible are: Steering-to-Auxiliary and Throttle-to-Auxiliary. Which one do I need, and what does auxiliary means? (My English is a bit crappy...)

Pretty sure you can mix the 3rd channel on the jr radio with the 2nd (throttle channel), This is a good thing cause you can set the epa on the pos direction on the brake servo to 0 so the servo does not move when you throttle, only brake. The manual for the jr should explain how it is done.

I like to setup a 3rd channel brake on my table inside using 3 servos. 1 each for steering throttle and 3rd channel (brake in your situation). That way I can see exactly what is happening, and get it set close to right before I put the radio gear in the truck.

As Brian said, mixing the 3rd channel for brakes is much preferable over using a y cable off the 2nd channel. Just being able to set the brake epa is worth it to me, plus you can set brake expo, etc... Read the jr manual and you should be able to figure it out.
