Hey guys... I got my replacement ESC back from CC (remember the thread?:
http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22114).
I have some questions. I know there are lots of threads on this, but my question isn't so much "how to do it", but more of "with what"?
I have some CC 10G wire left over from the fire. The wire seems to be in good shape. Anything that's not, is trash. But I can pull the old 6.5 bullets from those wires, plus I have some 6.5 bullets on the way. But I forgot to order some 10G wire. "BRO" is sending me some though, so I'll be all set next week if I wait.
I'm faced with a couple different options now. Most of my Lipos have Traxxas ends, not bullets. I'm fine with that. So I was thinking of taking the 6.5 Bullets off of the batteries, and putting on Traxxas ends. I also bought a Traxxas series connector that they came out with for the Mini ERevo. My specfic questions are these:
Is it ok that the wires used in the prebuilt Traxxas series connector is 16G, when the wires from the Lipos are probably 12G, and the wires from the motor and ESC are 10G? Do I need to take that Series connector apart, and replace the 16G wire with 10 or 12? I was never sure the "rule" behind keeping your wire gauge consistant. I always figured that it was best to have them all match, or at least CLOSE. But like going from 18G wire to 10 wouldn't be good. But mixing 10 and 12 might be fine. And even though the Series connector is 16g, it's a very small amount of wire involved. But it would be easy to replace if I had to. But I only have 12g wire to do that right now. And if I should use 10G, I need to have "Bro" send me a bit of red wire maybe.
Also, isn't there some kind of "preferred length" of wire yer supposed to use? With a system as powerful as this, having as little slack as possible is best correct? And you guys seem to be picky in that a 1/2" of unneeded slack is too much. Is this really THAT sensitive to extra wire? It has me all paranoid!
Thanks!
