23mm hex E-revo wheels and tires, suggestions? - 08.10.2009, 11:27 PM

I want to get a new set of tires and wheels for my E-revo. The tires that came on it are the Proline MT Crimefighters. The wheels are a plain black disk with 23mm hexes, not sure what brand.

I want a spare set of wheels/tires tailored more towards bashing. Something with more of a realistic monster truck lug pattern as opposed to the pin-type tires I have. I want to get the same wheels, so can anyone suggest what they may be? Or a similar plain black disk wheel with 23mm hexes?

EDIT: The wheels I have right now are right around 3.5" in diameter, if that helps. Also, what does "40 series" wheels mean?

40 series is a different wheel, it's larger in diameter and wider. It take a tire made for 40 series rims.

If you want a more Monster truck feel, the Pro-line Mashers in the MT and 40 series are a good choice.

The Proline Moab is also really nice and has the look of a Interco Super Swamper.

As far as wheels go, you are kind of limited when using the 23mm hex.

If you havent already bought the hexes, you'll find a wider range of rim choices in the 17mm hexes.

on edit - I see that you already have them....my bad.

I would still recommend picking up 17mm hexes. They are plenty strong and like JThiessen said, a bunch more wheel choices become available.

Hmmm. I like the tire selection, but the wheels aren't quite what I'm looking for. Just want a plain black disk wheel, nothing fancy, stick with the 23mm. I'll try to email the guy I bought it from and see if he remembers what they are. By the looks of it the wheels may actually be white and they were dyed black.

Well Proline discontinued the plain dish wheel in the 23mm hex. You may be able to find some on ebay tho.

The guy who sold me the truck replied. He said they are the Proline Standard Series 40 dish wheels. Yes, they are white and dyed black. Probably will buy a few sets since they're no longer being made. Plenty on ebay still.

Well I got a set of 40 series wheels/tires in today and they are a lot bigger than I thought. The guy I bought my E-revo from told me the wrong wheels. It's my own fault for not double checking. The ones on my truck are the Proline MAXX 23mm, not sure if they make them anymore, they are 3.5" in diameter

The only saving grace is that once I install the V3 hybrids the 40 series will make up for the drop in gear ratio, putting me exactly to where I am right now ~30 mph with my current spur/pinion setup. Just not sure if they will look way too huge on the truck.
