That spark - 09.29.2009, 08:32 PM

I know they always spark when hooking the batteries but will this hurt the connectors. And is there anything that can be done to stop it.

don't worry about it....common occurrence. I have had the same connectors on my batts./esc for a long while now with no probs.

You could use BrianG's calculator. Only if your not using a castle controller and I don't know about the tekin either.

I'm probably gonna get chastised from CC for saying this, but from what I've seen, it's the arming sequence in the MM/MMM that makes the charging resistor idea bad. When you hook up the pack with the switch on, the MMM immediately begins chirping the motor, which pulls some current. If the switch is off when you hook up the battery through the no-spark resistor, then things are fine.

I like the spark as it tells me the caps are in good shape. Now, a 8S, 10S, 12S and 60V sparks are very nice indeed .

12s definitely makes the ignorant jump! It's a sound that can be heard from across the LHS when it's plugged in.

Getting rid of that spark reduces one of the "coolness" factors of HV IMO

Scares all the gas burners when my mamba max gets plugged in ( 3 500uf caps and 1 big ~1500uf cap) makes them jump.
