Bang for your buck set up

With winter coming i decided i needed somthing to climb my pile of firewood so i bought a 1/10 scale team losi crawler. Hey patrick what would be the sweet set up for up to 3s.

sorry not Patrick, but a sidewinder is prob best bang for your buck. or the hobby wing 80amp...

Sidewinder and a crawler motor. Save more by buying used.

You can get brushless crawler motors, and they'll be more efficient, but they aren't as cheap as a brushed motor. Look around and get a lathe motor or crawler brushed motor.

So what would be a good brushless motor w/sidewinder, and what is a lathe motor "still learning"

Get a 35t or 45t Integy motor. There line like $17. A Sidewinder or MM on 3s. Will crawl great and will have plenty of wheels speed.

Thats where iget my batteries for 1/8 scale truggy. What motor bolts on.do thse little guys hold up very well?

Ok, here is my recommendation. I have a few crawlers and plenty of brushless crawling experience. Get an axi 2217 motor, the 1100kv model. wire it to a cc sidewinder and run it on 3s. The axi is a very small motor, but very powerful. You will need a motor adapter plate, as the axi has 19mm screw spacing, and the std spacing is 25mm. But the axi has an 1/8 shaft, so you will have plenty of pinion choices. Most larger outrunners have 4-5mm shafts, and pinion choices are very limited for 48p, which is the size of the spur you have.

Or go with a good (like axiom or integy PRO) 55t lathe motor, and run it on 3s. It will be less powerful and less effecient than the axi, but cheaper. Still good performance.

I prefer the outrunner axi motor over the brushed motor, much better low speed controlability in my opinion.

I have also used novak systems for crawlers, but the axi/sidewinder combo has better drag brakes, and just as good low speed control.

Would these be a equivilent of the axi? Priced at around $17, similar to a lathe motor. 3.2mm shaft

What about the gear ratio of the Losi? It's in the 90:1 range instead of 40-60:1, Wouldn't you want a little faster motor than a 45-55 turn motor I would thing that a 19-27 would be better to get the wheel speed up.

Just asking I am used to 1:1 crawlers.
