Thumbs up Just stopping by... - 12.04.2009, 10:08 AM

Just thought Id check in on some old friends and let you guys know whats been happening in my life recently. Well I moved on from the R/C scene to the real deal unfortunately and now Im hooked.
I still have my 88 rx7 and I am ordering nicely used "but not damaged" 13b housings to port and sell. Ive got to say Im in over my head with recent projects aswell with my cars and my friends vw golf gti.
My rx7 is now running better than ever and it will soon have a large street port aka "bridge port" to compensate with it.
Ive actually found 1:1 to be quite fun and much more of a challenge to work on and I really do enjoy it.

So yeah just thought Id stop by to say hi.

Nice to see you are still around. Sounds like your current project is coming along nicely. Best of luck w/that!

Sounds good, how much power you think you'll have when you're done with your 13B? Have you thought about doing a 26B? I know they can produce around 600-700HP without forced induction.

I would love to do that but the only problem is finding someone who would be willing to make a 4 rotor eccentric shaft. I would love to convert it to a 20b with a Peripheral port design but it wouldnt be street legal because the PP design requires a super low restrictant to open header exuast. Thats why I want to try out the bridge port design.

I saw one here: http://www.race-cars.com/engsales/complist.htm. It was a while back and it was going for around $3500 with a ton of spare to make a second engine. It even included the ECU and some other crazy things to make it work. The main thing to watch out for is the seals. The power to weight ratio of a fully blown 26B is unmatched by any other egine I think. I've heard of them reaching 2000HP.

Its quite nuts what these engines are capable of when their built up right. Thats an interestng find lutach. The 13b apex seals are thinner than the 12a seals which make them more vunerable to blow seals while under turbo pressure. Thats why porting is the way to go. In my opinion. Its been claimed that you can reach 550hp off a PP 13b with Holley PP intake and a large cfm tuned carb. The bridge port is capable of around 280hp. And the PP powerband is from 8k rpms to 12k rpms.

I love that site. Felix Wankel was the man. The Wankel engine is a work of art and works that way too. You either get it right or you get it wrong, but when you get it right it just makes you . When you get it done correctly, please make a video of it without the muffler so I can hear the sweet music from it.

Yea I personally dont think the wankels sound that great, even with an exuast. But hey I love how theyre totally different that the typical piston engine design. I am hoping to order another set of housings from a guy in minnesota for $250. Im debating on what port i should do on this one and if I should sell it or keep it.

What I am thinking about doing is selling my current fc3s "2nd gen" rx7 for $2000 and buying an fb "2nd gen". Their smaller, lighter and they have the 12a.

Glad to see your sticking with rotary and not doing a stupid chevy v8 swap. That is still to me one of the dumbest things you can do to an RX7.

You can get the 500+ from the 13b for sure, I had a friend with it done. When I get back around to it and have the time I plan on picking up an RX7 (probably an 89-91 GTU or GXL, don't want turbo) and fix it up proper like.

When that happens post it on rcm for me. What type of porting will you be striving for?

i actually like those cars.. but they sound like suped up weed eaters.. dont get me wrong.. they cool as hell.. but im all about the RX7 with a swapped Chevy 400 small block.. now thats a odd ball.. altho i know u can achieve high HP with those other motors.. and pretty light-weight.. and if your street racing/drag strip racing i spose the lighter motor of the 2 would be ideal.. but nothing sounds like a american made V8.. just my opinion not bashing anything/anyone so dont take this the wrong way..

btw we've never met but Hello sorry to jack your thread..lol also wat kinda RCs did you have?
