Sounds like you have a V2 is it has 6.5mm female bullets on the battery side. There were a few V3's that did use the bullet connectors on the battery side. Check the color of the control board on the bottom of the controller. If it is green you've got yourself a V2, if it's blue you're got yourself a V3.
If it is a V2 and if it is working, let 'er run. If it isn't working or you just want an updated version, send it in for an automatic warranty replacement. Normally the warranty is non-transferable between users and is only good for a year; but the V2 has a lifetime warranty and will be replaced at no charge with a V3.
